THF on Twitter??
Hey everyone!

Is it the apocalypse??

You can now follow updates etc for THF on Twitter!

We figured this was a good way to get our word through to our members since everyone and their mother is on Twitter these days. (That reminds me, I should tell my Mom to get a damn Twitter. She's internet savvy.)

Anyways~ http://twitter.com/thfiction - Follow us on Twitter! It'll be a blast. :)

New Warning and Some Clarification
Hey all :)

We've just added the warning "Incest" to the site. We realized there are stories that have incest relationships that aren't necessarily "twincest". So, please don't use the incest warning when you're trying to warn for twincest, because we already HAVE a twincest warning - unless you're writing a story in which the twins are in a relationship in addition to a son and father, too. Is this making everyone as uncomfortable as I am? GREAT!

Also, I wanted to clarify the WIP warning. A lot of people are getting upset about it, saying that perhaps the WIP warning is superfluous in addition to the fact that a story can be marked as finished or unfinished. Well, WIP stands for Work In Progress, or Written In Parts. A true WIP is a story that the author is posting that has not finished yet. There are stories authors post in pieces, but sometimes the story is already written, the author is just taking their time posting it. That wouldn't be considered a WIP.

Lastly, the deadline is soon approaching for our first THF Fanfic Challenge!

THF Fic Finders LJ Community!
We've received countless emails from members asking us if we could remember certain stories for them. Emails such as "Do you know which fanfic had Bill as a vampire and Gustav was a warlock and they fell in love?" or "Do you know which fanfic had Tom as a carpenter down on his luck and he meets a lovely OFC and they do this, that and the other thing? Eh??"

Usually, we NEVER know what story you're talking about. There are thousands of fanfics on the site and it's hard to remember every single on that gets posted. However - there's a really good chance that someone out there knows what you're talking about and may be able to help you out!

We've created a community on livejournal called THF Finders, HERE. It's a community where members of THF can post if they're seeking a certain fic, but just can't quite remember what it was called, or who wrote it.

Now, you have to have a livejournal account in order to use the community. That's the bad news. The good news is, LJ accounts are free and there's a wonderful community on livejournal that's worth looking into. Plus, you'll be able to find that story you've been losing sleep over trying to remember the title of!

Join THF Finders today. :) And have a good weekend!

Site Downtime
We were unaware of this, but our domain name has reached its expiration date, and it happened while we were sleeping. So, during the early morning hours, TokioHotelFiction.com went down and a widespread panic occurred!

But fear not - we've renewed the domain, and everything should be back to normal in no time. Please bear with us as the graphics and links seem to go a little fuzzy. They'll be back, everything will be back shortly.

Thanks to those of you who emailed to let us know about the downtime.

Thank you!! And some news bytes...
Cynical Terror and I would like to thank the especially kind members who donated to keep the site afloat this weekend. We appreciate the help so much. We managed to collect enough money for this payment cycle, and the next! So, thank you from the bottoms of our hearts... :) We couldn't have done it without you.

Aaand now, some announcements regarding the THF Banner Shop!

It's been nearly six months since we've accepted any applications for the Banner Shop, so it's time for spring cleaning! We're expanding the banner shop to let in some more artists. Please link us to your very best examples. You will have up to three rows in the banner shop to fit your banners in, so think hard.

If you're interested in applying to be a banner artist, send the following info to thbannershop@gmail.com with the subject line "Banner Artist Application".

Also, please let us know if you've contacted a banner artist and they have not responded in a significant amount of time. The same goes for beta readers. We're trying to stay on top of things and would really appreciate the help.

Thank you again. :)

In Need of Aid for THF
Hey everyone.

This is a different sort of news post than normal, as we are asking for some assistance from our members.

THF is, as many of you know, a popular and very active website. We have ads on the website to help us pay for the high costs of the site.

Maybe it has something to do with TH being on such a long hiatus or maybe it even has something to do with the economy, but our ads aren't bringing in as much revenue as usual and we are finding it difficult this billing cycle to pay the fees for the website. The ads might go down in price, but our webhosting bills do not. :/

We will figure out a way to pay the bill no matter what, so rest assured that the website won't be going anywhere and all of the content is safe on the site.

We are making this news post to let you all know of the issue and also to ask for some help, if you can. We would be very appreciative if anyone who is able could donate a small sum to the website to go toward the webhosting bill. We understand that a lot of people are having money issues during this time, so please don't feel like we are pressuring or demanding people to donate. Normally Undrockroll and I are able to pitch in our own money to help make up for the cost that the ad revenue doesn't cover, but we can't at this time.

We will be accepting donations through paypal and you can find more information HERE.

The website is still free for all members and no one is obligated to help with the costs or should feel pressured to donate money to the cause. However, if you have the money and want to help, we would be very appreciative and thankful for any aid.

If you can't donate, you can help the website be checking out our ads, which we gain revenue from through views and clicks.

Thank you for your time and support!

New Warnings! WIP, On Hiatus, and VAMPIRES genre!
We've added a few new selections to the Warnings and Genres. It just occurred to us that maybe life would be a little easier for the readers if they knew a little bit more about the story they're getting into.

We've added two new warnings. WIP and On Hiatus. Stories labeled WIP are, well, Works In Progress. Stories labeled On Hiatus are also WIPs, but they are stories the author feels they cannot update for a long while, or at all. As a writer myself, I know it's frustrating enough to be at a standstill with a story I just can't put anything more into. Hopefully the On Hiatus warning will be helpful for both reader and author.

We've added a new genre - Vampires. I don't know if it's the popularity of Twilight or Blood Ties or what, but lately, there's been an EXPLOSION of stories with Vampires! (Or as Bill likes to say, Wampires.) So, we've added a new genre to satisfy this.

I urge - no, beg everyone to go and label their stories accordingly! And don't forget the first Official THF Challenge!

Happy Birthday Undrockroll!
Happy 25th birthday to THF co-founder and administrator, Undrockroll (Darcy)!

Darcy has been an amazing admin and a kind, caring friend to everyone on the site, and there just wouldn't be any THF without her. She's been with THF from the very beginning and her dedication to improving the site and its content is admirable.

Let's all give Darcy warm birthday wishes and let her know that we appreciate her hard work and care for the website.

When you post a story, read your favorite fic, or enjoy the lovely layouts, know that Darcy is in every pixel- the foundation for a site that has grown and flourished over these past few years with her creativity and passion.

We will be featuring three of her fics for one day, as a birthday gift, and then the original featured fic for the week will be reposted.

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS
Bonjour tout le monde~

Just a few announcements. It's the beginning of Spring and in keeping with the whole idea of Spring Cleaning, I'd like to put out a few reminders. :)

1. Please only post one banner per story. Lately there's been an increase of banners, which is great - it's an awesome addition to any story, very eye catching and enticing. However, please use only one appropriately-sized banner per story.

Also, we're putting out feet down on images hosted from DeviantArt. It works as flash and is not resizable, so please, do not host your images there. Use other free hosting sites, like Photobucket, Tinypic, or Imageshack.

2. Please keep your summaries short and sweet. Don't give away the entire plot in your summary! A few sentence about the story is just fine. Also, please don't put dialogue exchanges in your summaries. Anything around 75 words is perfect.

3. Be original!! We hate to have to keep stressing this, and it's really pathetic that we even have to keep forcing this rule down your throats, but DO NOT PLAGIARIZE. You will be caught, and you will most likely be banned. If you are ever unsure about whether or not you have plagiarized, please send your story to one of the admin staff (undrockroll or cynical_terror) and we will tell you if it's okay to post or not. I don't mean to be rude, but for Christ's sake, the amount of plagiarism going around is disgusting. Show some respect and you will be shown respect in return.

4. Yes, you have to register separately for THF, TH Fan Art, and the Schrei Box. Try to keep all of your usernames the same, as well. :) Makes it easier to keep track of everyone.

I think that's all for now. Be on the lookout for the first round of THF Challenges! We swear, they're coming very soon. ;)

Thanks and enjoy your Sunday!

Main Pairings/Side Pairings
We've just changed the title of "Pairing" on submitted fan fic to "Main Pairing" and added a classification called "Side Pairing". This is done to differentiate between the main pairings in stories versus the side pairings.

It should be easier for readers to understand what the main romantic pairings are in the story. Hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion readers have experienced while browsing for fics.

Please change your fics accordingly to fit the new pairing listings.

Also, let us know if there is anyway we can make our classifications (genres, warnings, pairings, categories) more organized or easier to browse by.

Author Spotlight, Requests, and Challenges
We've added our second author spotlight to the site, so everyone give a warm congratulations to Lirren. She will be featured for two weeks, so please check out her interview and keep sending in author spotlight requests!

We've only received a small number of them since our last spotlight, and we want to interview people YOU, the members, want to know more about. So, if you are interested in an author and want to see them spotlighted and interviewed, please send your requests to thfiction@gmail.com.

Let us know if there are any particular questions you'd like us to put in the interview as well. The spotlight section is meant to reward amazing authors AND our members, so please let us know what you want and who you want it from!

Also, we are in desperate need of more variety when it comes to featured fic requests. Each week we get the same requests, all for twincest fan fic, and we'd LOVE to feature more het and different slash pairings. We love our twincest, but authors who write different pairings deserve love, too.

So, if you're reading an amazing story, let us know!

That is all. Everyone have any amazing weekend and we'll see you next week with fanfic challenges. We wanted to have them up this weekend, but real life throws some unpleasant curve balls every now and again, so we'll have to wait on debuting the challenges.

Co-author Problems
So, as you all may know, Efiction has a few glitches when it comes to co-authors. One glitch we've just encountered with co-authors is that when someone adds a co-author to a fanfic, either by accident or on purpose, and then removes that co-author, the story still stays in the co-author's story listings.

Basically, if someone accidentally adds you to their story, or if you wish to be removed as a co-author from a story, you can remove your name from the fan fic, but the story will always be in your story listings.

That may be a bit confusing, but we know that a few people have had issues with that in the past. We've just figured out how to manually fix the problem, so if you find a story in your story listings that you should not have, please contact us here in this news post so we may remove it from your listings.

Also, if your story count is off, as mentioned in the previous news post, please let us know so we can fix it. We've only had a few people contact us, and we know this is a site wide issue for a lot of people. Please let us know of the problem so we don't have to go through accounts on our own to find the problem. It'll save us a lot of time.

Thank you!

Story Counts
We've had some issues with the site software, some glitches, and this messed with some of the story counts. Don't worry, all of your stories are still on the site. The only problem is, your story COUNT isn't always correct. Say you have written 5 stories. If, in your profile, next to "Stories by _______" it says (3), that's obviously incorrect.

We have a way to fix it, though! But we're going to need your help. We'd really appreciate if you could go into your profiles and tell us if your story count is off. Tell us how many stories you really have, and tell us how many stories your profile says you have. Also, give a link to your profile. :)

We'd be happy to fix this for you, because it's a really pesky glitch in eFiction. Thanks everyone!

Member's Lounge, Challenges, and Rearranging Links
If you look around the site, you'll see some changes. Nothing too drastic, but we've rearranged some of the links to be in more logical areas.

All of the links below the main graphic are now purely website/account related links such as "Site Rules" and "Account Info".

All of the links in the "Browse By" menu are related to fan fic or fanart content.

The rest of the links can be found in the "Main Menu".

You will notice we've added a new section entitled the "Member Lounge" in the Main Menu. This section features a "Schrei Box". As you may remember from months earlier, we used to have a Schrei Box on the front of the website. We had problems with harassment and poor member conduct in the box, so it was removed.

We want everyone on the site to feel like they are part of a community where they can connect with other writers and readers, so we have added the Schrei Box back onto the site. If we have problems with members in the box, the members in question will be banned from the Member Lounge immediately, no questions asked.

If the Schrei Box becomes a problem on the site, as it did before, it will be removed.

We hope members will use the box without problems, but for now, it's a temporary addition to the Member Lounge. We will be adding games and other features in the coming weeks to this section, so look out for new stuff.

If you have any suggestions for the lounge, email us at thfiction@gmail.com.

One last note, we will FINALLY be adding Fan Fic Challenges to the site within a week or two. If you have any suggestions for challenges please email us at the address listed about.

Thank you!

Email, Author Spotlight, Deleted Accounts
It's come to our attention that the good folks over at TH_FANFIC on livejournal have been receiving emails that should actually be directed to THF.

If you need to email THF, our address is thfiction@gmail.com.

If you need to email TH_FANFIC, the livejournal community, email th_fanfic@gmail.com.

Double check the address you're sending your letter to so your mail gets to the right place.

Also, as a reminder, we'll be having a new "author spotlight" in a week's time, and we'd love to hear your opinion on who should be interviewed. Send us your suggestions at thfiction@gmail.com.

On a last note, we've had a few prominent authors delete their accounts over the past few months and we'd like to make a statement on this.

We only delete accounts if the member asks us to. So, if you find that your favorite author has gone missing, you should assume they've asked for their account be deleted.

We do not delete accounts randomly. The only time we will ever delete an account without the member's permission is if they break any of our Terms of Service. This has only happened about half a dozen times in our entire history.

Author Spotlight!
We've made a cool new addition to the site. :) It's called the THF Author Spotlight!

The THF Author Spotlight is a place where we can showcase a new author every other week. We'll be spotlighting old favorites, new authors, slash authors, het authors, every kind! When an author is showcased in the Spotlight, there will be a little blurb about the author, their accomplishments, and a little about their body of work, as well as an up close and personal interview. :)

The Author Spotlight works a lot like the Featured Fics. We're asking you to email us at thfiction@gmail.com to tell us who you think should be featured, and also, tell us what you'd like to know about them.

The Spotlight is located on the right side of the main index, right under "Site Info". You can also find it under "Browse Content By", right over there on the left hand side of the site. :)

We hope you enjoy this new addition. There's more changes to come (good ones!), so stay tuned, because we're hoping to make 2009 THF's best year yet!
