Official THF Challenges!
Finally, the day is here when we can introduce THFiction Challenges! :)

Every two months, we'll be hosting a new challenge that anyone on the site can participate in. Whether you're a new or old author, everyone is welcome.

Please click HERE for more detailed information on how the challenges work.

The first challenge is called the Flip Flop Challenge. This challenge is all about broadening your horizons. Most authors have a specific category they normally write. The categories are Gen, Het, and Slash. In this challenge, you will write a category that you have never written before. Be creative! If you normally write slash, write het or gen! If you normally write het, write slash or gen! If you're a gen writer, branch our and write slash or het. ;)

We hope a lot of people will respond to this challenge. There will be gifts for the first, second, and third place winners. The deadline for this challenge is May 24, 2009.

Does the story have to be posted in the body of the e-mail or can it be an attached doc to copy and paste?
Also adding all the genres, categories, warnings, etc - just as a header on the text?

miss r - good thinking. you can attach it to a doc, or copy paste, and have all the info such as genre, rating, characters, etc, as a heading. we'll add it to the rules!

i don't ever write, but i want to write for this. i want to know if i can pick from any genre.

iBill, you can definitely write for the challenge, just try and pick something that is out of your comfort zone... maybe a category of genre you don't read much.

I was thinking, if you've dabbled in every category, could you flip flop for genre instead? Like writing horror if you haven't before, or fantasy, something like that. Or would that make it too complicated to judge?

I'm wondering the same thing as bleepbloopbanana.

I figure we should just write whichever category we're least comfortable with (because switching genres could easily be another challenge), but for some authors that would be hard to do if they're set to write in either of them.
