I don't think Carnage is necessary -_- Violence + Blood = Carnage so....I mean, have we gotten to a point where assumption is impossible when reading warnings? Just a thought.

sirpustophlese - I disagree completely. I personally don't want to start reading a fan fic if the story is abandoned or on hiatus, and many times authors don't leave notes in the summary or notes. And like people have said above you, people don't read the notes half of the time. You don't need to MOLD your fan fic to fit the warnings, genres, or whatever... write your fan fic and then use whatever the site has to define it.

Also, the fandom changes ALL of the time, so new warnings, genres, and pairings, etc need to be added. All of these genres allow readers to search the site easier. Vampire fics are huge right now, just as Mpreg was a year or so ago, so we add it so people can go into the site and search directly for these types of fic. No one needs to write these fics just because we add the genre, you see, it just to make the site more searchable and easier to use. And we obviously can't anticipate what people will latch onto and start writing, so we have to wait and see what is popular and then make additions to the site accordingly. We aren't adding genres randomly to our liking.

I don't see how any of these additions are annoying. They only define a story more accurately, and if you don't want use them, don't.

As for the WIP, many authors write an entire fan fic before they post it and then post the chapters every week, or something like that. That wouldn't be considered a WIP. A WIP is a story that is being written as the author goes, and many readers don't like reading a story that they aren't sure will ever be finished, as many MANY stories on the site go on hiatus or are abandoned.

As I said, feel free to not use any of these new additions and it won't really bother or annoy you.

I think this addition will save some time. I know I've kept on reviewing fics whining for updates only to realize the fic had been abandoned, so I can appreciate those labels. Cool, thanks.
