My name is Adreana and I have been teaching ESL/EFL for the past thirteen years in South Korea and China. Teaching ESL has offer me the chance to travel the world and learn about diverse and complex people and societies while bridging the gap of US relations with my host countries. My educational background includes a post-graduate degree in English from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas and a BA in Communications from the University of the State of New York. My studies and travel have enabled me to understand the sensitivities of living, working and adapting to a foreign country. There is so much knowledge you can gain while living in a foreign country and experiencing all the wonders and beauty through the eyes of your students. I had the honor to teach at 5 different Universities in S. Korea and 2 universities in China. During this time, I traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asian including Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Japan and Indonesia. I recently completed an ESL practicum in 2007 at China Incarnate Word in Zhenchen which was part of my Master’s program in International Studies. I taught ESL courses ranging from Current Events, Business writing, TOFEL, Grammar, Critical Thinking. My last teaching position was at Peingzing University in Guangdong, China 2009. I have taken with me a little piece of history from each University I have ever taught oversees. The students are very open to not only expressing their views, beliefs and culture but also understanding our ideas and viewpoint. In the process of my ESL education and training, I have managed to co-author one ESL text book for Chungnam National University in S. Korea(2000) and also wrote various in-house manuals for elective classes which I have used at many of my previous colleges. These include Principles of Screenwriting, Love and Relationships in the New Millennium and Creative Writing for Beginners. These where taught as elective courses. I believe that with my extensive background in ESL teaching, traveling and sensitivity to foreign cultures, I will make a fine candidate for a Foreign Language Instructor.
