This was good. The writing was good, even if the plot was a little...unexpected. You're pretty good with conveying emotion, it made me sad and I really felt for Tom.
Your summary is a little overenthusiastic for someone's death, though. Not to mention that it's in all capitals. I'd take it down into normal lowercase and change the wording a bit, but it was very good.
