Validated Authors Recently we've had a few good people asking a very good question: How do you become a validated author?
A validated author is someone who we trust enough to give them the opportunity to post their fanfic without having it go through the submissions queue. Basically, if you're a validated author, your story will go up on the site right away.
We make authors validated from time to time when we see consistently acceptable work by them. For example, if a person always has good grammar, spelling, formatting, and never posts submissions under 500 words, we'll validate them. :)
If you aren't validated, and you think you should be, we're inviting you to email thfiction@gmail.com to be considered. Sometimes the volume of fanfic is very large and it's very useful to be validated. We'll look over your work and then contact you back with our decision. Our standards aren't ridiculous and the way we see it, the more validated authors we have, the less fanfic there will be in the queue - quicker updates.
Lastly, to be validated, you must be trustworthy. If we validate you and you prove to be untrustworthy, we'll take away your validation right away.

That's interesting. I didn't know there were authors who were "validated" already. It really isn't a great imposition on me to wait for a validation from a mod, but I'm sure it'd help lower the workload to have more validated authors.

If you submit your story and check the recent list straight away and it's there, chances are, you're validated.

I didn't know this existed either *_* but I don't know if I'm good enough to be one anyway. At least with the validating system you know that whatever you post is at least decent so you can avoid total embarrassment. I think I shall just stick with it, I'm not sure I'd qualify to be 'validated' anyway. :)

This site's been so much better since the whole validation thing started, though it would be full of awesomeness if you could validate stuff regarding the actual plot, lol.

god i know liz! when i was a mod, i had so much temptation to reject stuff because the plot was fucking awful! there are so many bad writers here it's not even funny; not near enough good ones. :

*blushing* This is to anyone reading this and wondering about what happens when you become a validated author. I was validated for a time and I abused it. Believe me, it is really noticeable when you get taken off the list: your fics take up to a day to be validated and even chapters take forever. It's definitely worth becoming one.

the mods get to the stories pretty quick. i'm sure as long as they're on the site, they'll be validating whatever is in the queue. being a validated author is quite handy but if you're not one, the wait time shouldn't be too bad.

Probably just a couple of hours. But I don't think that most people mind. Mod's have lives like the rest of us. :)
