So, I am a bit confused, though. I think it says at several points in the story that Bill does not actually love Tom? But it seems to me that he very much does - Tom's touch relaxes him, he feels safe with Tom, he desires that Tom is around him, "every move his brother made was perfect", etc.
Did I just misunderstand something?
Either way, I love it.
Author's Response: Ah, no you didn't misunderstand. In fact, I'm thrilled you picked up on it. Bill actually (at this point in the story, at least) doesn't love Tom. Or not in the sense we're used to. To Bill, Tom's just an efficient means to an end. He gets a fiercely loyal bodyguard and killer and all he has to do in return is let his brother think he shares the same feelings. Now, that doesn't mean that's really what he's feeling, but that's what he thinks he's feeling. That Tom is just a sort of 'idiot' but Bill's happy to use him. Does that make sense? ~Inari
