Hmm..I think this chapter ended a bit too early. I was surprised when that was the end. Anyway, I liked how Bill felt guilty over his actions and is starting to think things over with a clearer mind. It marks the start of his change in heart. Also, I got the feeling that if Tom died, Bill would also die. His life revolves around Tom. So, hospital scene next? Can't wait. =)

I had written this chapter (well half of it) and was like "There's no way Bill would do that" and "That doesn't sound quite right." lol as you do. So I changed it to the current version. I'm glad you enjoy this story!

Wow, that's a long response. =P Heh, the hospital scene just came to me. It would be very bittersweet and it just seems like the way this story would go. And I get where you are coming from about Tom. The problem is that I usually side with the character who tells his story first, which in this case is Bill, so it makes it easier to sympathise with him as the first impression of Tom was from his point of view. And I also have a thing against people cheating, and the way Bill found out was just so heart-wrenching that Tom was just deemed the bad guy straightaway. Maybe you can have an epilogue or something with Tom's pov. That's the easiest way to get the readers to feel what he feels.

Anyway, I see how you are using the 'faceless' girl to sort of bring him back to reality. He had thought he had finally managed to replace Bill with 2 people, brother and lover in which Bill had both filled, but now he realises that that could never happen. Too bad he had wait for something like this to happen before he understood what he himself needed.

Oh, and you asked for songs? Would Geh or 1000 Meere fit? They have a tinge of desperation that might fit the storyline. Anyway, update soon! =)

I don't know if this would be too cruel, but I think Tom is such a hypocrite. He put his love for her above what he felt for Bill and now he's saying that he means more to him than she ever knew? He'd even replaced him with Jared. I'm quite sure that's not what you're going for, but still, he's a bastard, from what I see/read. At least she (damn, I forgot her name) became cold-hearted straightaway. I'm a bit of a sadist, yes. Lol.

Anyway, I suddenly thought of a really cliche plot of Bill bringing Tom to the hospital when he's unconscious and then leaving before Tom wakes. And then Tom asks who brought him there and a nurse describes Bill. And he tries to find him etc. lol. As much as I dislike Tom in this story, Bill would still hear his cry for help somehow, right?

Author's Response: How did you know that was what I was thinking of? lol I had a hospital scene all set up in my mindrnand as for Tom being a hypocrite I can see where you're coming from. He is a hypocrite, I won't say otherwise, but in the heat of the moment don't you think he'd say things intended to hurt or make the girl feel jealous? Even though she is a bitch and probably wouldn't care, Tom's pride was being demolished. He did replace Bill with Jared and he did put is love for the girl above his love for his own brother but everyone makes mistakes and Tom is only now realizing just how big his mistake really was. He really believed she loved him, until told otherwise, he was used and worse yet the guy he thought of like a brother is not denying his relationship with the girl Tom loved. Having the thing that meant the most to him taken away in one moment, he grabbed onto the only thing he could, the love he once shared with his brother. By declaring his love for Bill he was trying to convince himself that all is not lost. He's traumatized because the same thing that's happening here happened five and a half years ago, on the night Bill left him; both times he's had his love thrown back in his face (obviously the first time he brought it upon himself)rnrnrn“To late for that now isn’t it Tom?”rnrn“Shut-up!”rnrn“You can’t change the past!”rnrn“SHUT-UP!”rnrnWhat I wanna point out is that from the beginning of the story Tom has always loved his brother, regardless of the fact Bill walked out on him. Like Bill (but not to the same extent) he is hurt and in pain, the same void that's in Bill is in Tom. So, like Bill, he tries to find a person (in this case Jared) to replace the one who left, in the hopes of filling the void but like we all know, that can never happen. When the girl screams (I've left her nameless and faceless for a reason) that it's too late and that Tom can't change the past, she's telling him things he already knows. Deep inside him he's always held onto a hope that one day he and his brother can put aside their past to have a future, of course having the fact that he can't change anything nastily pointed out, it's kind of a reality shock to him. He knows he can't change the past but what if he can't change the future to? Tom wants to deny the fact that there may be no future for him and Bill because if he doesn't then what does he have to live for? TH? And hang around the guy he thought of like a brother with the girl he thought loved him? Hell no. rnrnI guess there are many ways to view Tom, while I want you to hate him I wish for you to pity/sympathize with him as well. Of course there's was no way one could pity Tom before all this happened to him and you may say that he had it coming, he deserves it but, now, both Bill and Tom are on a closer playing field and many things remain to be seen.rnrnWell, I wanna thank you for your review. I enjoy knowing what people think as it also makes me think, not only about the story but the characters also. I was aiming for readers to sympathize with Tom but if that hasn't happened I may come back and review this chapter (make him sound less like a hypocrite lol, which may be hard but I gotta try).
