Oh my god, I waited for so long, sure I was gonna get some smut, and then instead there was baggage. Why, Bill? Why? But the chapter was good! It makes sense in comparison to the rest of the story. Can't wait for more!

I have never read another Billshido story that made me hurt for Anis like this. His pain (and I do believe it's pain) and confusion is so real and so solid, and I feel it in my stomach.

I read this chapter very slowly, because I had an idea of what I thought it would be, and I knew you'd do it well. And as you say, it wasn't what I thought it would be. It was incredibly intense when Anis had Bill against the wall, and I could have eaten those lines even more slowly, licking each word clean, they were so good. I was completely entranced. And then Bill flipped again, and I promise you, my stomach jumped and I think I felt a little nauseated because I knew what this would do to Anis. The last paragraph was not what I expected, at first, but then, of course, it made perfect sense. And man, it hurt.

Now for Bill. I don't know why he's doing the things he's doing. But when I read this chapter, I was absolutely struck by how amazingly well Bill is written in this story. His character intrigues me, pisses me off, annoys me, makes me want to hug him and makes me feel for him. To say I'm impressed would be a gross understatement.

There are so many things I want to say, because I want Anis to know why Bill does this, I want Bill to explain himself, I want Anis to be able to touch him, I want, I want, I want. But you run the show; this is your story, and I have to try (try!) to be patient and let you tell the story the way it needs to be told. But God, this is killing me. Which I guess means you're doing it right, right?

Author's Response: *contented sigh* Thank you so, so much. That this chapter was not what you expected not only makes sense (as I pretty much led everyone on - sorry xD), but it makes me really happy. I make an effort to try and avoid cliches (but naturally gravitate towards them), so hearing that something wasn't blantatly obvious means I'm accomplishing that goal of mine. One of the reasons that it took me so long to update was the against the wall scene (especially the beginning), so that you mentioned it as something you liked really meant a lot. I saw it so clearly in my mind and consider it such a pivitol moment in the development of their relationship that I was never happy with how I had written it. The way that you interpreted it was so much more than I could have ever hoped for, so thank you. And your compliments about Bill's character - unbelievably kind. B/c I can't give the reader insight into his thoughts, I have to try and elicit empathy/understanding through actions and dialogue, and the challenge of doing so is my all-time favorite thing about writing. If I could write in straight 3rd person with no omniscience into any character's mind, I would absolutely do so. Since these are real people, I always feel rather intrusive and presumptuous putting thoughts into their heads (while I strangely have no problem making them engage in obscene sexual acts with each other...hmmm). Anyway, all I can say is thank you, and I really hope that the rest lives up to your expectations :)
