Maybe he was adopted, and he knows that he was adopted, and he thinks that that means that his birth mother saw nothing in him worthy of love, and that's like the ultimate self-worth-deflator, so he finds his worth through a completely independent standard - sex. And in the remaining ten plus chapters Tom will realize that he still loves Bill enough to forgive him for what he's done, and he wants him whole, so he'll try to help him uncover the truth and become a whole person. Then they will discover that Bill's birth mother is actually Tom's bitchy mother. Then they will both be like - well fuck her, she doesn't matter, but we've found each other, and now we are not only lovers but twins and nothing will part us ever again and we are both infinitely worthy of love.
If I am right about any of this I will definitely have to do Bill-psychic-fingers.

Author's Response: No, not any type of mother figure, and Bill is not adopted, and he is not Tom's twin. XP Nor does Tom's mother even stay bitchy for the whole story, she turns out okay for the epilogue. And then, if there is a part two, she'll be nice in that one. XP Mwahahahaha, I can totally make my characters evil and then nice! I do it all the time, lolz. XP

Aha, aha! I've figured it out! By her, Bill is making a reference to Tom's mum who in his mind is a violent horrible hag.

Really, people hated Bill? I didn't, I just felt sorry for him. That might be because I, too, hide my real feelings behind a mask. Not like Bill, I'm just stoic, unresponsive, and solitary, but I understand why he's doing what he's doing to Tom.

Author's Response: Nope, not a mother figure. Yeah, a lot of people were really upset by what he did. And I don't know why, since I think a lot of people hide their true feelings, Bill just does it on a more extreme level than most. You'd think more people could empathize with him, but apparently not. It's easier to empathize with Tom, I guess, since he's not the one instigating the trouble.
