The whole door "you have to knock" scene is adorable.

Tom hands me my tea. "Congratulations." He smiles.
"Congratulations?"
"I was woken by a text at three in the morning, someone couldn’t wait to tell me." - *laughs*

"You look like a nice lady Daddy." - *laughs*

"Uncle Tomi, did you know that Daddy's name is BILL?!"
"Bill?! Is it really?!"
"YES!" They nod again. – I love when kids tell you things like that.

"She’ll hate me."
"Why would she hate you? " Bill takes my hand. "She'll love you."
"I hurt her boy once already and now I turn up again with his secret love children in tow."
"That will be a bonus!" Tom laughs. – well at least they’re reassuring her.

"What the hell happened to your office? It looks like a bomb's hit it!"
We shrug simultaneously and he rolls his eyes. "Oh, I see – that's what hit it." - *giggles*

He fishes in his jeans pocket. "Do you have this one?" It’s the photo he took from my notice board the previous day. "It looks so much like a photo we have at home, of us, I think she’d like it." – that’s sweet.

"But Grandma and Grandad are in Noozy Land!" - lol

Their eyes widen in excitement. "A NEW Grandma?! We'll have TWO Grandmas?!!" – it’s a novel concept for 4 year olds.

Tom smiles at me then looks down at the quilt again, picking at the loose threads. "This thing has been all over the world you know."
I frown and he laughs. "I know what you're thinking - that doesn't really fit does it? With him... you know... moving on..." He shakes his head. "Tell me about it. I tried to say that to him a few times, he just flew off the handle and insisted he took it everywhere just because it made him feel comfortable in faceless, nameless places. He would never make the connection to you. Or admit it, should I say." – I love when Tom spills Bill’s secrets.

"We went back and he cried in my arms all night. All night." – that’s just pathetic!

He bats his long eyelashes and the twins do the same. – lol!!!

"Oh for goodness sake! Don't do that! Go on then, you have to get them ready though – you might change your mind after that experience." – maybe not he was a rambunctious twin himself he’ll hopefully know how to handle them.

"I love you." His smile lights up his face. "And you love me."
"And how do you know?" I smile back at him.
"Because of this..." He touches my lips with his fingertips. "...and because my Mama says so!" - lol

"She wants to know when she will meet you, and the twins, where we're going to live, whether you're a good cook..."
"What?! No! Did she say that? No! Did she?" I frown. "She didn't ask that did she?"
He laughs as he starts to kiss me again. "I told her you make a great sandwich." - *snorts*

God. I don't know how you do this. I'm sure you take as much pleasure in this as we do. I so much needed this right now. It has a terribly soothing effect on me. Maybe it's the kids, maybe it's Tom, or maybe it's just them two. Life should look like that. For real. A

He disappears under the sheets. "Why not? Hmm..." – because you have two mini yous in the house who are going to burst in at any moment!

The door bursts open and the twins rush in. "Where’s Daddy?!" They look crushed. "Where is he Mummy?!" – ta-da!

In an attempt to resolve their quarrel, Bill takes it from them and hangs it around his own neck.
They fall silent and stare at him.
Bill smiles.
Their little faces crumple and they start to cry.
"What?! No! No! Stop!" Bill looks at me, mortified. "What did I do? Make them stop!" – lol!!! You’ll catch on eventually!

"Do you want some advice?" I smile.
He nods.
"Always side with me."
"Always?"
"Always." – uh-huh!!!

"We LOVE Uncle Tomi! Where is he?"
"Downstairs. Do you want to go and wake him? I’m sure he’ll want to play with you!" – OMG!!! That is soooo mean!

"No fair!" I complain half-heartedly. "This is the position I find it most difficult to not make any noise." – *laughs*

"Are you ready? Are you ready now? Do you want it now?" – kind of funny he’s begging for her to come *smirks*

"Does that mean I get to keep it?"
"What's mine is yours."
I nod. "And what's yours is mine." – she’s so clever and mean! *giggles*

"We have so many things to work out. I think adding that on top of it all would be a disaster."
"But..." – I forgot his enthusiasm!

"But you won’t make me wait too long, will you?"
"Sometime in the next year."
"THE NEXT YEAR?! NO WAY! ABSOLUTELY NOT! THREE MONTHS AT THE MOST!" – whoa! lol

"I can’t believe I'm having to negotiate for my own wedding. I'm not sure it's worth it..."
I feel myself turn pale and suddenly wonder if I've gone to far. "You know I'm only joking don’t you?" – you’re good but I think he might be better…he had to negociate with big wigs *smirks*

"So, if you stopped taking these, how long before we could have another baby?"
I sit bolt upright. "What?! You're kidding, right?! Another joke?!"
"No. I'm serious. I want us to have another baby."
"Bill! What have we just been talking about, taking one step at a time?!!" – yeah seriously!

"Twin boys and twin girls. That would be perfect." He looks at me. "Don’t you agree?"
I grumble as I sink back into the pillows. "Whatever you want Bill. Whatever you want."
"Good." – OMG he would drive me nuts!!! @_@

"But you are giving in, right?"
I sigh as his kisses inevitably melt my resolve. "Yes, I give in." – I have a feel they are going to have a HUGE fight sometime soon!

Author's Response: I think maybe you get the same feeling from reading it that I get from plotting and writing it ;) I draw immense 'comfort' from portraying their life and relationship this way and losing myself in their world.
