From a reader's perspective, the ending kinda is kind of a sour note. This is definitely a fluff piece (a wonderful one), and a fluff piece that ends with a character death, is like sucking on a sugarsweet lollipop only to find out that there's parsley in the center.
So my point is, he better damn-well be alive in the sequel!! ;P

don't kill Bill, maybe hurt him but not kill... you can't do all the rehab funsies (read angst) with a dead chara... depending on where Bill was sitting and what side the truck hit them you could easily have it be Saki (much as I like the guy)dead (or Really badly hurt) and Bill anything from severely shaken up to broken bones..
