Oh wow! I hadn't thought Tom would have a traumatic childhood too! I figured his parents were just on the brink of a divorce or something.
This explains why Tom cares so much and maybe the root of Georg's hatred too.

I really like your intro. I'd like to know a little more about Bill's parents. Why they don't care, why Bill's got Georg as his step sibling. Did they stop caring when someone got remarried? What happened to the other parent? Were things different before?
I liked that you introduced Tom early enough, I didn't want to wait. And that girl was a bitch. I liked her reaction to bill.
