wow, the entire fic was like poetry. i like the backward pieces of it. ^_^ you are very good with words, and painting pictures with them.

Subtlety is a talent most people (including myself, I'd say) unfortunately lack, both in writing and in life. The way I see it, there are two kinds of subtlety - the kind that's so quiet you miss it the first time around and the kind that seeps into you so slowly you don't know you got it until you're done and look back and think, shit.
I'd say this one was a pretty firm hit on the latter. Reading this was like moving very slowly, like swimming through smoke with a consistency of molasses or like standing so still you could swear you saw the earth rotate. I don't know if you infused this fic specifically with that kind of feel because the subject matter called for it (and it did, now I think writing the same thing in any sort of other style would seem off) or if that's just the way you write, but whatever the case, the fact that you managed to pull it off in such a compact fic, in first person, no less, is nothing short of impressive.
I'd very much like to see more from you, but until then, I suppose I'll have to settle for re-reading this. (Again.) Great work. :)

Author's Response: Ooh, I love long reviews. First of all, I agree with how you potray subtlety, though I do think you have mastered that special art. :) But wow. That's... really nice of you. I have many styles, this is just one of them. I can't settle for writing in one particular way over and over again, that's just not how I work. Your style is very slick, very fluid and comfortable. I'm not a fan of suicide, but I can appreciate talent regardless. I look forward to seeing more from you, whenever you want to grace us with it.

I agree with Steinsgrrl!
I mean...uhm...WOW? It was such a great way of writing, that it gave me more than I expected. You have a way to actually somehow make me read between the lines. I loved that.
So, go on and give us those unfinished pieces. I'd love to read them.
