Author's Response: he was already dead, just like Lune. It was not really his ghost, but more his soul carrying her to heaven. She woke up in the end, so they would be together forever.

Author's Response: actually, Tom was already dead when all this happened. it was like his way to heaven and when he reached the city he reached heaven. that's why Lune 'woke up' in the end, so they could be together in heaven.
