I just spent the past couple of days bulldozing through this story and This Hour's Duty. I really, really liked this series and am pretty much at a loss for words to describe my feelings for it without sounding campy. The raw emotions, the hurt, the sadness, everything was so amazing and I felt really drawn in. Sorry I didn't review at all while I read; I was too caught up.

Hey, I’m loving this story, I just have two things I want to know that don’t have much to do with the story just I want to know if you can answer them?
The fist thing is what is that Avdee tonic Ann Kathrin had to take. And what dose it have to do with Bill genetic print?
And last do fathers have any interaction with their female children like a father would a child?

2)At first, before concubine training begins, or so long as they are still a member of their household, yes, though a far different sort of interaction than they would with a male child, obviously.

OK so the trust that's building between Bill and Tom is great, that's wonderful and makes me so happy. I'm so glad that things are good between them. I'm glad I got some answers related to children and boy children and girl children. Very interesting that concubines swallow the essense of the second male. How do they determine a second male from a first male? Is there some genetic quality? That's so werid. What if there are two first males in a family...what if there are more then two? How do they split the household? Does it matter?
Bill has a contact on the inside that's great but Benjamin hasn't offered them anything yet only empty promises. He will help but he hasn't given them anything yet, no leads no direction. That might help. But I suppose he could be an inside source to out the "bad guys".
Author's Response: Yes, it's a genetic quality. And there's no problem if there are two first males, just as there's not when a king has two sons -- the eldest inherits.

So Raphael thinks he's learned something interesting but we know that Bill now has an ally. I worry for Benjamin what will come of him when his husband is found out? He has nothing now but being stuck in debt can not be fun. I hope he has a plan for his future after this is all over.

It seems that everything is starting to fall into line. Except of course the murder mystery part of the story. There are still ten chapters for everything to go to shit. I more then believe that you have the power to send this all spiraling down. But I hope that the next few relationship tests will be better and less devistating on them as well as I hope the murder mystery gets solved and put into a nice little box.

This seems like a pointless trip to the palace. They didn't really see anyone. Couldn't they have been told exactly why they were going. It's nice to see that Bill and Tom are moving forward but I am still concerned about Bill, but perhaps he is also moving forward.
