This story makes my toes curl so hard.

I think if I ever had to leave a review that was one line on pain of death, it would be that. You guys have no clue how warm and fuzzy this fic makes me feel inside. And no, I am not pregnant.

There's so much to say about it. It's like I'm back in AP Lit, taking notes in my book (on Post Its because writing in a book is equivalent to raping it) for HOURS because my mind kept making connections and forming new thoughts. This fic is like that. I have to stop myself from going onto a tangent about it so many times while I'm reading, you have no idea. It kind of confuses me, actually, because there's nothing really profound about the fic other than the fact that its superbly written (we don't see much of that nowadays, you know) so I don't know why it draws me in and clutches at me and refuses to let me go like that.

I suspect it might have something to do with the gnomes. D:

So fangirling aside, this chapter was amazing as always, mainly in the sense of relationship development. It's very slow and subtle with these two - I thought even the kiss on the cheek was understated actually, probably because it came from Bill and anything short of a full blown love confession is understated for him - but the entire chapter just eased me along from them being friends to being close friends... and maybe more.

"It was okay if they insulted him but he couldn't stand them going after Tom." YES. I see Bill defending Tom so little these days and I love that it was both of them. Bill stood up for Tom and Tom stood up for Bill, in consequence, but he did it nonetheless. I think that's a very important part of their bond, you know, that on the surface it might seem like Bill is the "weak" one and Tom is the "protector", but relationship-wise, they rely on each other. I loved so much that you showed that. And their reactions to everything were perfect and said a lot more than what was written out.

And, and, before I forget! GUSTAV. I love you for showing that bullies have a reason for bullying. It's not always that they're malicious or evil - most times it's just family problems that they keep locked up inside and need to vent in the form of violence. I still hate him in this fic, of course, but that made him so much more human. (No matter what type of creature Bill thinks he is... a dwarf, maybe?)

"especially now that it was both for Bill and Tom." That line is everything involving any relationship. It's not me, it's not you, its us. The fact that Bill recognizes that, even if he doesn't recognize the full meaning behind it, shows great progression.

AND OMFG, ABOUT THE KEEBLER ELVES. When I was younger I TOTALLY thought that the ads on T.V. about elves making cereal were true for exactly the reason Bill put out. It makes SO MUCH SENSE. DD: (Why did I have to grow up, whyyy?!)

And I loved the scene where Tom kicked those douches' ass. D: (Also, I'm *really* seeing the hints now.) The entire premise got me right up there into Tom's head like the story always does, and it made me more angry than any physical abuse could have - because it wasn't *just* bullying, it was cruelty. And the fangirl inside me that likes to think of knights in shining armor fizzled into a pile of goo at this line, "He abandoned the locker and went to Bill, ignoring the mocking comments as he put his arm around him and tried to lead him away."

And Bill is so effing cute. I loved the little lines strewn about that spoke of him, like "He sort of wanted Tom to tell him that it was all going to be okay and that there was nothing to worry about." So honest and so Bill. So honestly Bill. :P

And that reminds me, I didn't think there was a concrete POV in this chapter, which surprised me a little. I didn't notice it till I started seeing both Tom's and Bill's thoughts and I had to switch back and forth between them, and I'm actually not sure how I like it. In a way I know it was necessary because it gives us the entire picture and certain scenes in this chapter required it, but on the other hand I thought almost *too* much happened here, and I was kind of overwhelmed trying to see it from both of their perspectives as well as my own.

Oh and before I forget again (sorry I'm so all over the place today..) I loved this line: "even if Tom was obviously just doing it to delay telling his dad what had happened." Thank you once again for letting Bill's intelligence and perception shine through. Mwah!

The last line said a lot. It made me reminisce about when Bill confessed that he thought Tom was human, and the kiss was squeezed so delicately in between those two lines that I almost didn't notice it. And that's a good thing. Slow and steady wins the race you know, and most relationships *are* that subtle and soft. I really hope you keep the pace and feeling in the next chapter, it would be awful if you jumped the gun and forced them in something they (as characters) aren't ready for...

...um, no pressure, of course. Hehe. ;)

Hope this review made you a little happier, Muffin. I loved the chapter, I love the story, and I'd love for y'all to keep writing. In fact, just much love in general,
