so basically your setting up a situation where tom will have no reason not go go w/ bill. his dad will be dead (incompatnen doctor much?) his mom sounds like a flake, raised w/ righ parents, still spoiled and not too bright, and a nice police man who just happened to grab his mom's attention, instantly earning his hatred?
