Yep, this qualifies as evil. Tom's upset ovr a poem you haven't let me see yet which is making me crazy and I don't know what made Bill's wall go up. Only that his day went from an all time high to an all time low.
Tom's gonna learn at least part of the truth soon though. When he goes over to Bill's house, realizes that there's no heat and that his parents are a mess.
One question. Bill's grades were ok at the beginning of the year, but I assumed that his life had been like this for some time before that. Did something get worse to make him even more unhappy? Or did all the stress that he'd been trying to contain just finally get to him?

yeah, he basically had a little breakdown and he just doesn't give a damn about his grades anymore.
tom hasn't realized just how crappy bill's living conditions are yet...but he will!
