Another thing that I want to point out is this line: "it was like he was watching his brother falling apart, like his guts were spilling out..." I remember you using a similar metaphor on Bill in Inertia, and since that first reading of that first TH fanfic, my first, it's remained one of the most vivid and emotive pieces of imagery I've ever had the pleasure to read.
Thank you for this chapter. I can't wait to read more-- although at this point I think that goes without saying. :)

You. You are a genius.
This chapter played out perfectly; it's easy to see one thing leading to the next, and the next, and so on. Tom is going about this all wrong, hurdling forward sometimes blindly, shrouded in his own confusion and half-assumptions: he has no idea but he thinks he does. I love how at the beginning there is a false sense of "I understand, everything is okay" but it very soon becomes clear that while Tom is trying, he's got it all wrong. That is just awful for Bill.

Author's Response: I'm not, I had a friend in high school who was ftm trans and just got top surgery a few months ago. Other than that the only experience I can claim is gender studies and being feminist. I'm glad you like it though--kick my ass if I get anything wrong in the rest of the story, yeah? <3
