I don't think you did anything wrong, at all honestly. I think your story has been amazing since chapter one and is still every bit as amazing. I don't know how you can stand focusing on one story for so long like this but I'm glad you do. Anyways I think the way you are moving into a happier atmosphere for the family is honestly working out just fine too.
