Of course not. This a very good representation of the reality of the world today. People have to have control. Maybe you could make a flashback that explains why Ethan has to have power and/or control?? Humans can't do evil for the sake of evil. Maybe Tom && Bill will hate him for his reason. I think it would make your story more interesting. :)
Author's Response: Hmm. That's a really great idea! I've considered a flashback before, but I was never sure if it would fit in with the plot. But, if you'd really like to see an Ethan flashback, to explain those reasons, I'll try and write one to add to the next chapter. (:
