Aww... I don't think that your plot is dumb at all! In fact, it's more creative than most things I've seen lately.
I hope you'll update soon because I really want to now what's going to happen to Tom's.. what did he call it... soldier/rocket/etc (That part made me laugh by the way XD) and how Bill will react once he finds out. I'm pretty surprised that he didn't use the internet to search for "Troy", "David Jost" or even "Tom Kaulitz". But maybe I'm just to addicted to the internet to let other people keep some secrets. Anyway. XD
