I thought Bill tells the truth to Tom about the shield. Instead, he went into danger alone. And his own brother even can not wait for him. Stupid 5 minutes. I wonder if Bill can handle it.

However. I dont hope that they will leave Bill on that planet but it could make sense with the summary of the story ...

No, their father is certainly not a good man. I think he used the incident with disruption of the shield as an excuse. It is a pity that Tom can not think by your own head. This can not end well.
