The hugging and kissing is such a huge step for Tom, though I'm not gonna lie it made me tear up a little when Bill kissed him and he freaked out. Something as gentle and normal as a kiss sending him on a spiral like that... poor broken Tom. Bill should really set him up with a therapist too, so that the poor guy can start untying some of the knots in his brain.

Author's Response: Dear Tom really doesn't like to be touched, at least not suddenly and without warning.rnrnI can't remember if Tom ever got in with the therapist during the course of the series. He is in the part that never got finished, though, so at least he went eventually, if behind the scenes. (I don't know how much good it was doing him, though, since he did everything he could to avoid actually having to talk about what happened to him.)

Yay, for hero Bill...love how he says he's spoiled and used to getting his own way. Bill wasn't captive for long enough to lose all hope like Tom, but I'm sure he'll still suffer from the ordeal and need therapy. Tom was thoroughly broken and had suffered for years, I'm not sure he will ever fully recover but hopefully with Bill's help he will have some happiness in the rest of his life.
Author's Response: Bill needs a cape. :) Only child rich kid, yo, no one ever told Bill that he couldn't do anything he damn well wanted, and if that meant escaping from a creepy facility, he was gonna do it, dammit.rnrnBoth of those boys are gonna need a professional to talk to, and probably for a good long time. But hey, at least they're not THERE anymore.

I'm glad that Bill escaped and also got Tom away there by calling the police, Bill's a real sweetheart and also very brave, I wouldn't even dare to try to escape if I was him. And for Tom it will take some time to trust people again. Great chapter :)
Author's Response: Bill might not have had a lot of time to get to know Bill, but he knew that being chucked into another small room wouldn't have done him a lick of good. At least this way he knows that he's okay. :) And, yeah, knowing that slicing and dicing might be in my future if I DIDN'T succeed in an escape would keep me from wanting to try, too.

Freedom will probably be more terrifying for Tom than captivity. Bill is tenacious. He wasn't lying when he said that he was getting out and that he gets what he wants. I just want our boys to heal.

There must be something terribly wrong with me, because I really want to know what actually happened to Tom and Bill when they got taken away to 'perform'. I know it's implied that it was horrifying and painful, but damn it my brain needs details. If only becuase what I can fill in myself is probably way worse.
As ever, wonderful, wonderful writing. Bill's line about how Tom is the only person who really gives a damn about him just broke my evil little heart.
Author's Response: See, that's exactly the reason WHY it's kept nebulous. Anything you can think of is the worst case scenario for you, whereas if I was like 'and then they were tickled...MERCILESSLY. There might have been a little pee', it's like, oh, well, okay, that's not so bad, I thought it was gonna be way worse. This way, whatever horror show you can come up with, maybe that was it, or maybe that's tame by comparison. Who knows!

Oh damn. Even though I remember this one and I know that Bill comes back eventually and makes everything better it still breaks my heart a little that Tom thinks he's gone. Poor Tom.

Tom is so heartbreakingly sweet in his misery. He tries so hard not to care, but for his loneliness and sanity, he has to care about Bill. They are both stubborn. One in his absolute sense of eventual freedom and the other in his absolute desolation and captivity.
