It has be so hard reading all Tom and Bill had to go through, what a nightmare. But I am so glad Bill did everything he did for Tom because he's getting so much better, he's like a new person.
And I am so glad they are finally finding their balance. Bill being jelous of Tom soooo funny and sweet ( I can understand him, he's scared)
But I can't wait for the trial to be over so that they can go back to their reality!

I'm so surprised because I never thought about Emily's "come back". And that was nice ! I was also surprised by Tom's reaction because he didn't push her away. Maybe that's a first step to be more "open" to the world again or it's an old habit ? Anyway, I would have had the same reaction as Bill.
I like their littles small talk, I hope we will have more of them !

Him being okay with her is a little bit of old habit, I mean, it's Emily, he's hugged her a million billion times, and part because he's getting used to contact and it not being scary. Bill's been a great help. :D

It was nice to hear more from Tom's life even if it's sad. His father is a coward to walk away just like this.

Tom's dad really could have been better at the whole dad thing. It's not that hard to send a card or call.

Okay, that was kind of nice. At the end, at least. Tom's dad sucks, and Tom kinda sucks for not telling his mother. She could have at least waited in the other room with Bill and Simone. But it makes sense why he didn't, so that's something.

Author's Response: Tom's dad def wasn't ready for the responsibility of a kid. But walking out on him is still pretty shitty. At least he wasn't abusive or something, though.
It's kinda par for the Tom course to not be communicative when it comes to his mom, isn't it? He lives in a hole for years and years and the first thing he does when he gets out is NOT CALL HIS MOM. Like, it's been awhile, call your mom. Don't wait until you get caught up at make out point to suddenly remember that time existed before.
It can't ALL be scary and horror. Sometimes things can be okay.

I really don't like the way the trial turn out. I'm so sad for Bill. Everyone is against him when he only tried to help.
But I love Tom more and more, he evolved so much lately. And he's such a support for Bill right now. The role have changed for once and I like it.
I can't wait to see what happens next !

The defense is mean, but they can't exactly let Bill be painted as the wonderful hero that saved the day and rescued three other dudes from some gross torture dungeon. That doesn't work well for their case at ALL. So he gets to be the monster. Look look, over there, HE'S the bad one!
It's not often Tom is the strong one, but he can totally step up to the plate when Bill needs him. :)

These are going to be the hardest chapters to read. It's strange how I've been both looking forward to and dreading this part of the story all at the same time.
Author's Response: I'm not sure whether to hope they ARE hard to read or not, tbh. Like, on the one hand, yessss, writhe in the feels, WRITHE, but on the other side I kinda worry people are hoping for them to be a lot darker (and more reveal-y) than they're gonna be. So....idk. Here's hoping that there's at least a fair chunk of writhe. ;)
