I checked the warnings again and what I think about Bill's adventure might not be as bizarre as I thought..... In any case, I love it when reality turns slightly into a dreamlike world!
The huge gap between the poor kid's ordinary life and the new world he wakes up to, makes me dare to say he's actually reborn as the Bill he could have been, had he grown up into a decent household. And Tom knows it.
Having access to expensive boutiques and a beauty parlor would turn a shabby boy who thinks he's trash into a gorgeous boys who still thinks he's trash.
In my opinion, a true transformation can take place only when the boy realizes there are persons – beside his dad – who truly value him as the nice human being he is, and that's what happens thanks to Simone and Natalie.
Bill then understands for the first time in his life he's “beautiful”, having “beautiful” more than one meaning. It's not only about a shell; it's also about the soul said shell harbors.
(stupid note: that silver top and hairdo must be the wonderful outfit that had haunted many people's dreams for a long time XD)
Bill's speculation on angels' code, protocol and rules is fantastic! It's so funny and naïve you'd feel like jumping into the story and hug the boy, but let's leave it to Tom.

He's finally starting to see his worth and his own beauty but of course, Tom could see that well before his makeover. I'm having ridiculous fun with the whole angel thing. I don't know how I managed to go through this chapter without bursting into tears.
Bill is moving, but what makes my heart sink is that his character represents all the abused kids in the world, how they feel, how they're led to hate life and themselves. What hurts me more is that I know the nightmare Bill is going through is only partially fictional.... The bright side is that, in the end, you too met your angel (I assume he's not a vampire XD).
The myth of mothers who, beyond any doubt, are the most loving and caring persons in the world is debunked and shown for what it is: a big, fat social lie that not many are willing to acknowledge or say. Still too many “mothers” are selfish enough not to believe their children for the sake of their own relationship/marriage.
I appreciate the reference to real facts, like Simone and Gordon marriage by a lake and the song “Don't Jump” (Bill is on the tower, he's “staring at but not seeing the city lights below “ and then the angel basically tells him “just take my hand, give it a chance”). Ok, this is one of my favorite songs and I think I told you about the day I watched its video on repeat.
Savior Tom is wonderful! I can't picture if he looks just a couple of years older than Bill or more, yet. I love it that Bill doesn't trust him in a wink; it would be truly odd of him to jump out of joy because he met a total stranger appeared out of thin air!
The image in the banner speaks for itself; without makeup, Bill looks beautiful and vulnerable. Great choice :)

I'm so lucky to have an empathic, understanding friend like you *hugs* I actually didn't know Simone and Gordon married by a lake so my including that in the story was a happy coincidence. I actually got married by a lake myself 10 years ago so that's why I put it in there :) And yes, I was totally thinking of "Don't Jump" when I wrote the lookout scene. I'm glad you saw the references! As for Tom, I picture him as he looks now, but without the beard or piercings, and with his hair out. And in a suit. So yeah, older than Bill. But the great thing about having an imagination is that you can picture him however you wish!! Oh yes, I love that photo of Bill without the makeup. *sighs wistfully* I was actually just looking at pictures of Simone (as I'd never really looked at her before) and was stunned by how much of Bill and Tom I can see in her face! They have their dad's ears, eyebrows and lips, but Simone's face shape and smile. They definitely got their natural beauty from her :) And now it's me who's digressing...LOL. It's amazing how you can underestimate what you write! I still can't see any Mary Sue, but she will probably land in the fic later on, flapping her bat wings XDD
I love every word of this chapter. Your writing style is awesome as usual but there's more to it.
For the first time ever, I'm reading something about Bill. I mean, we all know who Bill is and how he looks/looked like, so his piercings, tattoos, hairdo and makeup are often taken for granted. Instead, it's very interesting to know why the character decided to change his looks and what made him the person he is.
Also, the painful situation you describe is truly accurate – I've studied a lot of psychology and yes, that's how bastards often sneak into normal lives and that's how kids react to abuse (and, sadly, that's also how some parents and teachers ignore what's there to see and understand about abused kids). What Bill says (“just another one of my dirty secrets”) sums it all up.
On like this, honey. I can't wait to read more!

Hm, I mustn't be as crap a writer as I thought I was XD Oh yes, I'm really happy and excited to be the voice of Bill for once, instead of an original character or as the omnipresent author. Sadly, I have put a lot of my real childhood into this story and some of the things that happened to Bill actually happened to me so that's why they're so realistic. :( But it is all exaggerated for drama's sake and I never cut myself or attempted suicide. I can't wait to tell Bill's tale as I haven't written as much about him as I'd like in previous fics. This story is my chance to do that, to be inside his head, and I'm glad you'll be taking the journey with me, my dear friend! Thank you so much <3

Really pleased to see a new story from you (well it's an old one to you but new to us). Like you I've had my 'vampire' fads when that's all I read. Still enjoy my vamps from time to time (great fan of J R Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood). Poor Bill, unfortunately I had a similar experience when I was a child so know all about keeping that kind of secret and how it affects you. I can't wait to meet vampire Tom.
