I loved the small interaction between Tom and Bill, and the rest of the chapter was great too, and yes, Andreas really is a douche, but I see that his parents really seem to like to date younger people xD And poor Tom :( It must be horrible to lose one of your legs, and even when you can live with it, it will always be a reminder of what happened :(
Author's Response: Bill is learning to be more aware of the world around him, by being with veterans who've seen alot more and also lost so much more.

Honestly, what made me want to throw up more was the way Andreas was talking. Could his head get any further up his ass?!?
I had forgotten that Bill didn't know about Tom's leg so it kinda hit me all over again. I thought that was so sweet of him though, to bring over the present for Tom. Also the fact that Bill realizes that he can't just seduce Tom and that he can't only have something sexual with him is good. I was a little scared that he wouldn't realize that until it was too late.
Author's Response: There's also been people that are like, "Veterans don't deserve any special treatment because they CHOSE to go to war. I didn't ask for war, so why should I honor people who made a bad choice?" There are poeple who are very selfish and are unwiling to recognize anything outside their own life.

Author's Response: Surprisingly, Andreas' reaction is very realistic. While in my uniform (I'm army), I've been told I'm going to hell, I've been told that I kill babies, And there are times when people roll there eyes at me cause I might walk into a store in uniform to get juice for my daughter, like right after work. Many people are very supportive, but there's always a few that don't think we've given up anything to be honored for.

Thinking to myself that depending on the outcome I'll try to help differently abled ppl more in some way. My family member is just like Tom but doesn't use his leg after paying top dollar to get it. Just sits there all sad and couch potato like O.O
Author's Response: And that's what I wanted to show...that many veterans suffer from depression because they don't share that same connection...that same "brotherhood" or "bond" with civilians. Its hard to move on and get over your depression/lonliness without your "battle buddies" there.

Author's Response: That was actually gonna happen, good guessing. I actually changed it at the last minute because losing only 1 leg, seemed like a better sense of asymmetry, than being being balanced and losing both.

I feel so bad for poor Tom especially because this is not just fiction. This stuff happens and it breaks my heart.
Author's Response: Yes. I wanted to write a story that shed light on a very tangible reality that veterans face. Its not just discounts and being honored. Not me personally, but many veterans keep fighting a battle in themselves...long after getting out.

It's so true that you can usually pick out military people. There's just something about the way they carry themselves. My dad is a retired veteran so I've spent my whole life around the army. I really like that you're writing this story. Not enough people realize exactly how much military people sacrifice.

Anyways, yeah, alot of people don't see that veterans give up privilages, and even life and limb for people to have their freedom and for the people they love. In today's world, people don't see that. I've literally been told "You are going to hell for the evil things you've done." And "How does it feel to be a baby killer?" And people have actually said that they're glad veteran kill themselves. -_-0

Author's Response: Yeah nearly 7 years of service. Although my contract ends this October. I really wanted to write a story that realistically depicts a veteran with PTSD or veteran suicide, a subject that alot of civilians usually brush off.
