Either way it was beautifully written but so very sad. This last chapter was quite sad and I wish we could have gotten to see Tom and Bill’s relationship heal. I’m glad Tom is happy, though and even though bill has passed, he was able to forgive him.
Author's Response: I'm sorry I didn't keep my promise when I said nobody dies. As the story got further along, it just kind of morphed into it. I really couldn't think of another way to end it while still being fair to Tom.

Wish I could know more about Bill and his life with Tom when he got back. I'm also wondering a bit about how Tom and Julia really hooked up. This chapter was awesome and RIP to Billy but still wish I could know a bit more.
Author's Response: Yeah, I debated whether or not to dive deeper into Bill's role, but at the end of the day this story belonged to Tom. I am currently considering writing a prequel to get a real glimpse at pre-damaged Tom and introduce more of Bill and Julia and the rest of the family, but I'm still on the fence about it.

So much happened in this chapter and all I can think of is Tom slamming his head into the wall. I physically felt that and visually pictured it in my head. It honestly hurt me to see him struggle with emotions he would've been able to fully confront had he not shot himself. Amazing chapter and can't wait for the next one.
Author's Response: Yeah, that was actually pretty hard to write. It's hard to really be real, if you know what I mean. He's brain damaged. I have a brother with special needs and actually did a little research about traumatic brain injuries before I started writing this. As hard as some parts are, I want to remain as true to "new" Tom and his struggles as I can be.

Author's Response: Nope, Bill's not dead, just absent. He's just grieving in his own way, and that way has been to simply ignore it. Now the time is coming that he has to face the part he's played in Tom's actions.

And I bet I know exactly who her boyfriend was, I have a sneaking suspicion his name begins with a T.... I wonder what part she had in events? I was gonna say she came between him and Bill, but by the sound of things they weren't close, and if she did there's no way she'd have tried to act friendly in the coffee shop. She doesn't seem very nice, but maybe that's some bitterness from whatever happened in the relationship. I don't like the thought of Tom being even partly involved in whatever happened to her but I've got this feeling he might be inadvertently.
Now for Bill, I'm so, so curious to know what's happened with him. Something clearly has because whenever someone in the family happen to mention him, everyone else goes quiet and backs off. I wonder what he's done for a reaction like that. At the beginning of the story I thought everyone was acting like that because he was the bad kid who went off the rails and they don't like how he turned out, but now I think there's more than that. Whatever happened to him, there must be a reason and I'm still holding onto the hope that maybe he can redeem himself somehow.
Loving this story, I'll be back to read the next part soon :)
