Oh absolutely fantastic chapter! The sex was great and super hot. I loved getting to see some actual vulnerability from Tom. I like that Bill makes him feel safe. I also loved bill's little prayer, and what it mean to Tom.

Author's Response: Royce is definatly fun to write. He's totally inspired by a teen hustler I saw in a tv show. And I think Tom will definately end up saying something to Bill about Jesse.

Gede is certainly an interesting character. Seems to be Tom's rational consciousness, sitting on his shoulder, pointing out the obvious. While Royce seems to be a reflection of Tom's childish side, pouting, constantly throwing little teenager tantrums, sullen and selfish. Maybe being squeezed between the two, a healthier Tom will pop out. Oh, loved the sex scene in the previous chapter as well. The way Tom insists on arguing with Bill in a sad attempt at preserving some false sense of dignity or manliness - you bring out his personality on every level, never letting that attention to detail falter. Nice.
Author's Response: Gede's purpose in the story is exactly as you said: to point things out to Tom. Every good story needs one of those "unsolicited dvice givers," lol. And Royce might actually force Tom to act more parental, looking out for someone other than himself for a change. And yeah,, Tom will always argue with Bill I think.

Love how Tom isn't begrudgingly doing police work; how, since HE decided that he'll be a working employee, he's actually a bit gung-ho about it. This guy absolutely detests doing anything he feels he is coerced to do. Obligatory favors, bribes, threats, or pleas all piss him off. He's such a delightfully bitter introvert. Love your writing skills (they lived sort of like Native American Indians: modern and impoverished, with celebrated vestiges of an obsolete culture. Here, they lived more like the Polygamist Mormons in Utah: isolated, superior, and borderline deranged in their practices and beliefs - wonderful!). And how Tom is absolutely terrified to let down his defenses with Bill, partially using the excuse that he's a dangerous creature, yet at the same time, that's what makes Bill SAFE for Tom to pretend to be starting a relationship with. He can keep his emotions at a distance, throwing in all kinds of arguments, including feeling insecure because Bill is a glamorous, beautiful vampire, what could he possibly see in HIM? He has perfectly "reasonable" arguments for keeping his walls up with Bill. And of course, that makes it easy to feel sorry for Bill, who is being so patient, and trying so hard, and getting very little in return. It's downright touching. All the subplots being added are so interesting and multi-layered, it's hard to guess where you're taking us. But it's undoubtedly going to be a fun ride. Thanks again for putting so much work into this, it's very appreciated!
Author's Response: Yeah, since it's actually his job now, Tom likes it a bit more. He still doesn't like touching and seeing gross stuff, but he gets satisfaction from solving crimes in a way noone else can. It makes him feel important. I was really self-satisfied when I crafted that blip about the fairies and their culture, so that's cool you liked it! Bill definately has been crazy patient, but I guess why not? He's kind of got forever, lol. It's so nice that you always leave such spectacular reviews. They make my day just as much as reading a new chapter makes yours.

And I really liked the beginning, when Tom was sleeping and had a dream about hospital and Bill. Tom is finally admitting that he likes Bill, yay.

Tom's life is never dull! It really is scary for him to admit how much he's grown to care for Bill, that's so painfully evident. But at the same time, it seems like Bill is opening up even more in ways that will help them be closer, basically admitting his fault for what happened to Tom, showing his regret, vowing revenge. That's winding up the tension quite a bit, knowing that guy is still alive and coming for them.
Royce adds an entirely new element into an already bubbling stew of plot elements going on! I'm sure he's going to cause more trouble for Tom, hopefully nothing Bill can't overcome.
I'd almost forgotten about the case with the fairies. That should be, um, exciting! (I am worried for Tom.)
Author's Response: I'm glad all of the plot points are interesting to you. I hope none of them feel forced, and that it doesn't feel too busy? In the end all of the drama is really only to do two things: to give more insight into Tom (and Bill) as individuals, and also to further their relationship.

Author's Response: I too felt that it would be out of character for Tom to be okay jumping into sex. So I chose to do it with a scene where he was very emotioanlly vulnerable. I won't say there will be two steps backwards, per se, but Tom is still not comfortable with everything. I'm glad you liked it!

Right now I imagine that Bill is quite hooked on Tom. Maybe not in love yet, but he cares for him very much. And I would say that Tom cares for Bill, even though Tom wouldn't phrase it that way.rnrnI've been watching Queer as Folk lately, and that has influenced my decision to make Bill and Tom one of those couples that alternate who tops. i'm in love with this chapter , seriously. i waited SO long for this moment?? the first part of the serie, the pause, and than this, i mean, i was on a CLOUD! everything went perfectly ! like i expected! not all MUSHI MUSHI but animalistic ! love it ! and love the tender part mix with sadness and anger in the end, perfect !! Oh. My. God. This chapter was just so...I have no words. It was amazing. I'm so glad that you had Bill give up his control for Tom because it's just kind of a beautiful sacrifice on both of their parts, and they needed it. Plus, I like the idea (and so does Tom, obviously) of someone as strong as Bill letting someone else have control in intimate situations. I can't wait for the next one!
