Oh, I did that once...slipped up and said I love you to a boyfriend I didn't really feel that way about. It just came out in the same way you'd end a call to your mum or someone and say something like 'Love you, see you later' or whatever. I felt dreadful about it, so, I can understand Tom playing it cool, wanting to be sure what Bill meant by his text before he admits his feelings. But poor Bill could have done with an 'I Love You' right then. I can also understand Bill not wanting to drag Tom into a potentially distressing situation if he has a serious illness that might require a lot of treatment. At least Bill has his best friend to look after him, but how lovely it would be for him to have Tom holding his hand. Here's hoping they sort out the misunderstanding so that Tom can be there for Bill through whatever he has to endure. Sitting on the edge of my seat here waiting to find out what's wrong with Bill.
