And this actually will play an important role in the dynamic of her relationship, not only with Tom, but everyone she knows, aside from family and her friends. I wanted to show that the dynamic of their past relationship isn't as simple as friends who used to know each other, because that's not the case. But at the same time, they do have a past that is pleasant. But most importantly I wanted to reveal that the boys know more about Emily than she originally believed.
