I loved the twist at the end! It made me laugh out loud. You already know what I'm going to say in terms of what you should be doing with your life...but I never get tired of saying it so I'll say it again. Harlequin! I have to say in general, though, this is one of your best written pieces yet in terms of continuity.

Sneaky Tom... *grin: Though I do think it was there and there to be slightly immoral to do just to "figure it out". But in fiction, why not? And hey, they belong together anyway, right? :)
I really like the idea of anonymity of masquarades. Reminds me of Eyes Wide Shut. I liked to read this very much! :)

When I saw you were the author...I knew before I read it I would love it and I was right!
At first I knew it would be Tom, but somewhere along the way I was hoping it would be someone else, but really happy it ended up being Tom. Well done!

Really good. I was hoping all along that Gabriel would be Tom. What a shock for Bill, though! Glad he is prepared to give them a chance. Not a criticism of your writing, just a small error in posting, the last couple of paragraphs suddenly turned to italics. I hope that now your muse is talking to you again you'll be posting more stories.
