Ugh I'm just loving the ,love/mostly hate on Tom's part, relationship between Bill and Tom. I enjoyed the whole club scene and the tension between Bill and Tom, and the fact that everytime tom looked up bill was watching him is something very sensual and predatory, the image of Bill watching Tom make out with someone is very hot for some reason too haha. It was like I could feel the jealousy oozing from Bill's pores only Tom was too dense to know what those glances meant. And the last scene warmed my heart bill protecting Tom and Tom not understanding why, It just adds to my suspicion of something happening between bill and Tom in the past and tom not remembering, am I imaging this? Haha
Oh well another great chapter! :)
Author's Response: Well, bad things happened to Tom in the past due to Bill, but not too many good things. For the first time, Tom is thinking Bill might have a thing for him. I'm very pleased that you are enjoying the love/mostly hate (love that phrasing btw) dynamic between the two.

I really liked this chapter. The part about bill and the computer made me laugh, reminds me of my mom and her inability to understand computers and where to click. It's also interesting to see the dating side of Tom and how even though he doesn't really want to accept his homosexuality he still tries to go on dates to get over his self hate . And I love how you describe his reasons against dating it must be awful feeling like you're constantly invading your dates privacy every time you touch. Anyways on to the next chapter :)
Author's Response: I'm glad that you took away what you did about Tom and relationships. Yes, he has a complex about his sexuality, but he also realizes this and does make sooome effort to irove in this area (though not very successfully).

Ah so this is my first time reviewing this story, but I've been keeping up with it for a while now :). I have to say that I really enjoy your take on vampires/lycanthropes/etc. - I love how it's got a lot of elements from traditional/more established portrayals of supernatural beings, but obviously with your own personal twist. And I really appreciate how fluidly/eloquently you write, the choice details/descriptions you include, and the steady yet enthralling (sorry, couldn't resist :P) pace! I was really excited that more backstory about what went on between Bill and Tom in the past has started to be revealed. Waiting (quite impatiently, lol) for the next chapter - and I can't wait to see where you take things next!
Author's Response: Well it's great that you've been reading, and thanks for the review! I certainly have taken a LOT of things from books and movies, but some of it is from my own imaginings. You'll slowly learn more of Tom's past with Bill from here on out.

Jealous Bill, ftw :D I was vaguely wondering if something like this would happen, but I'd discarded the suspicion earlier in the chapter. So that was an interesting surprise for me.
I was pretty amused that Tom had ended up going to Kiss anyway, hehe XD
saving me from yet another type of rape - Wait, does that mean Tom's been raped, in a sexual sense, in the past? :/
Author's Response: Oh yes, Bill is harboring a secret liking of Tom. No, Tom was not raped. He had referred to the use of fey glamor as "rape." The second "rape" he was referring to, was being bitten against his will, which Carmen was about to do before Bill stepped in.

I don't know how I feel about Bill, he seems like a ass and there are moments were he is adorable. But I think I'm with Tom, I feel like hating him too lol
Author's Response: Bill is an ass on the exterior. But there are reasons for that. He has one particular reason to resent Tom, which you haven't learned of yet. But he also is cold because, as a very old, very powerful vampire, he feels he has to be this way most of the time to survive and maintain the life he's built for himself. It's hard staying alive so long! lol. And Tom of course, has waaay more reasons to like Bill, and not many incentives to try and understand him better. Thanks for your thoughts, I really like to know how my characters are being perceived.

I love cheesecake too! But no one wants to buy it for me ;~; Anyway, I loved it! :D Read all three chapters that I've missed. I like finding out more about Tom of how he was and is, Bill too. My fave part of the chapter would be Bill with the laptop, so funny and cute =3 And Tom makes me laugh with his inner talking, "I'm tired and grossed out and too damaged for life" , or something along those line was my fave of his. Keep up the good work!

Well, that Phillip guy was pretty mean. In his defense, he didn't know about the crap Tom had to go through, but against him again, a person should really let another have a few seconds to explain their side of the story O.o
That last line really amused me, hehe.
Even with Tom being a super pessimist and his life's probably shortened for that (:P), he's not unenjoyable to read.

Author's Response: I agree with you on Phillip. He wasn't really meant to be a character worth giving serious consideration though, just a vehicle to learn more about Tom and how he deals (or doesn't) with romantic relationships. It's very exciting to know I can write a pessimist that is fun to read :)

Even though Tom is trying to have a good, normal time like lounging in sweatpants and eating takeout.... his life is still pretty awful. The poor guy! I hope the visit from the foreigners goes well.
Bill getting frustrated with a pop up ad was very cute! I expected him to break the computer by accident or something, like by pressing the keyboard too hard or putting his finger through the trackpad.

I know that a nice, long chapter deserves a nice, long review and I wish I had more energy to give one, but I did want to at least drop a review to tell you this:
This story is so very well-written. If it weren't for the elements straight out of Laurell K Hamilton's vampire series, I'd be urging you to pull this from THF and submit it to a publisher. As it is, I feel really lucky as a reader that you're posting this here.
You've really grown as a writer in leaps and bounds! Well done and I'm very much looking forward to more, and I hope this chapter gets all the reviews it deserves. :)
Author's Response: Wow. I'm floored by your comments. Thank you so much for telling me this I think my ego just grew three sizes. I have considered completely rennovating it and trying for publication in the future, but that's a lot of effort that I don't have energy for right now (clearly Tom would have to become a woman, all LKH references & similarities would have to be ripped out, etc.). Thank you for saying I've grown!

Author's Response: I wanted to put a quote at the beginning of every chapter, and that one was at least slightly appropriate, so it got picked. Plus I figure some people on here might like twilight, so they'd appreciate it. I have seen all the twilight movies due to my sister, and can at least appreciate Jessica and Charlie's characters.

I want to agree with Rainii that even though Bill wasn't physically there in this chap, the reader could still feel his presence, which was awesome :)
Lol! Speaking of the Twilight series, I couldn't help but be put into mind when the Volturi and their entourage came stalking over from Italy. That female vampire, Sabine, and her people vaguely feel like that.
And ohhh, I feel in a similar way to Tom, unfortunately -- about black people, that is. Except that never in my life have I been racist. It's just that sometimes I curse the day(s) when we learned about the slave trade in middle school, because it inadvertently instilled the forever-present thought: "This is a people who have greatly suffered in the past. Be careful to never offend them." And while not a degrading belief, it still did the work of planting a feeling of separateness :( A few years out of high school, I'm only just now muscling my way past that, learning that I don't have to walk on eggshells.
Author's Response: Yeah, I know it's sort of like the Volturi visit in Twilight, but I totally am not modelling on that. I sort of get annoyed by Twilight (no offense if you like it, to each his own). I kind of get what you mean, by the super careful not-wanting-to-offendness. Now imagine that feeling times a thousand, and it probably comes close to what Tom feels, since he kind of feels he has amends to make for being such a jerk as a young person.
