I think you're doing a really good job of developing all of the characters and the story. It's nice to read something where the plot isn't too rushed.
I'm curious to know why people don't like Tom. I thought Bill would ask when his friend mentioned that the 'cheating boy' would be in the same boat as Tom ... I have an idea on why he's an outcast, but I'm looking forward to finding out for sure.
