I like your setting and characters! They are so fleshed out and you describe them so well. I forget whatever preconceptions I have about Tom/Bill/whoever when I read this. Even your minor characters have such depth of personality. :-)

I don't see this chapter just as a filler:-) I really adored it and you can call me crazy but I loved immensely that moment when you described Gustav distraction over a pair of Bill favorite combat boots lying on the floor next to Tom's working shoes. Such a tiny detail but it said so much about finality of their comitment somehow.
Can't wait for "a month later moment":-)
