Bill blinked. “Yeah. Yeah, living the dream. That’s me.”
There was an awkward silence as Tom and Bill both heard the bleakness in his voice. Tom coughed with embarrassment and gazed at the ceiling, his eyes following the trail of glow-in-the-dark stars that Bill had put up when he was twelve. Tom didn’t know, of course, that Bill had put them there as a reminded to aim as high as he possibly could, and as such, didn’t know the incredible bitterness that he felt whenever he saw them.
That paragraph was amazing. AMAZING. You are a skilled writer, that was beautifully done! How awkward the two of them are.
This is a very well done story! I like how it's capturing the moment with the imagery and emotion. :3 I really like it!

Oh, poor Bill. If Simone is so unconnected to reality, how did she raise Bill? I guess Bill's Dad raised him. I'm sure we'll learn more. I'm gonna pay attention to this! :)

This looks like it's going to be a fantastic story already. I like your use for the title Advent, because I know that most people associate this time with Christmas by itself!
Also, your writing style is very nice, and everything about this story so far is just dandy. I can't wait to read the next chapter!
