Love it, all of it :). The song, the moody atmosphere and the writing style :).
I'm a fun of the "All Reason Against It, All Healthy Instinct For It" too (though I admittingly suck at leaving the reviews, sorry), but for some reason this story resonates with me better. Maybe because of the melancholy of it, not sure.

I must admit, you use the flashback well, unlike quite a few people, myself included. I bow to the master.
As for Tom's locks, I could see that happening. Even my friends who have had locks for years at one point and time have cut them off and started them again. Yet another wonderful job.
