As this isn't finished yet, I'm not REALLY reading this, but I was just wondering why in the bloody hell something that you're not reading wrenches your heart and makes you cry and just leaves you utterly devastated. ugh, I can't really say who to feel sorrier for... Vanessa because she had no idea about Bill and his wiles, Bill, who found out Vanessa knew nothing about him, or Tom... who felt like he had to keep his worlds apart.

OMG, read this chapter again once I got home and it's even better the second (fourth) time around. The only problem I have with it is that I kept trying to get to chapter 17, but it wasn't working out.
*whistles innocently*
Also I forgot to mention--in my extreme glee this morning--that I love, love, LOVE how Bill is purposely not speaking in English to try and make things easier for Vanessa. True, he doesn't speak it fluently, but he knows basic conversational skills and he's not even giving her that. I'm surprised he hasn't skinned her alive yet. LOL!
I also forgot to mention I had a bizarre dream about this fic. And Bill was SO bold in it! Basically Tom is lying next to Vanessa and wide awake because he can't sleep well knowing that Bill is just a few doors down. So he's lying there and fretting and the door to the room creaks open slightly and Bill is just standing there looking at him. So they stare at each other for a while not saying anything until Bill tiptoes into the room. Tom is tensing up but he's not throwing him out or demanding to know what he's doing, you know? So Bill comes right up on Tom's side of the bed and finally Tom is whispering: "What are you doing in here?" and Bill goes: "Why are you avoiding me?"
So Tom acts confused and is: "I've been with you since you got here." and Bill gives him a look like 'you know what I mean'.
Bill whispers: "I can't sleep either. Come talk to me." and Tom shakes his head. Bill reaches out and touches Tom's bare stomach. "Please?"
Tom catches his hand before it boldly ventures further down and the air is electric between them.
Tom tells him "No." and Bill shrugs and slowly eases onto the bed and crawls on top of a shocked Tom. Bill is straddling Tom and he whispers "I guess we'll talk here then."
And he leans down to kiss Tom as Vanessa starts to wake up and...
...that's when my stupid alarm clock woke me up! I wanted to cry. But then I got online and saw you had updated with chapter 16 and all was well this morning once again.
Man I need so much therapy. :D

I really liked this chapter, Vanessa's POV of the twins is an interesting angle.
The German worked well, it's certainly necessary to convey Vanessa's exclusion, and it's very well done, with only one wee little error (Sänger is a noun, so the S is capital).
