Tom was more wrapped up in the notion of losing Bill to some cursed pirate item. Ehehehe- ahem. I liked that line. *shifty eyes* I also laughed at Tom's speculation that Bill was being forced by the "real" Soldiersbane to play decoy. Uh-huh. Wishful thinking, Tom, dahling.
Eee, I was excited to see more interaction between Bill and Andrej. It makes sense that they'd forge an alliance when they have so much in common. For one thing, they both like shinies, lol. I think they're also both sort of... well, pretty, and preferring guys but still making their way in a world of pirates and sailors. Their friendship with benefits does make a lot of sense to me.
And good lord, poor Tom. So worried about losing his position, in large part because it'd mean he might not have another chance to find Bill. ♥ Love that he's even more driven now that he knows Bill's alive and has hope again.
One final note that I snickered at Georg's last line, and NOW I MUST READ ON. *_*

First reaction: EEEEE THEY KISSED. Okay, so it wasn't the most romantic situation, seeing as Bill knocked Tom out a second later, but they both felt that spark. ♥ I get the feeling Soldiersbane is going to be a bit distracted whenever he remembers that kiss.
Second reaction: LOL DEAD. Poor silly Tom was suspicious, but he still didn't reckon that a lady (or "lady" *cough*) would club him in the head. Plan C was quite a good one. God, Bill gets a locked room to himself, access to the ship, and freedom from suspicion because everyone but him underestimates the female gender. Lol.
Nyahaha, and now they have to see one another again, since Tom has the locket. (Yes, I already knew that, but it's even more satisfying in full fic form.) On a side note, I'm adoring the seafaring terminology you're using, and the language in general. So in love with this fic, it's ridiculous. It's like having another Pirates film here and now, but with TWINS!

YAY OCEAN COMBAT. I always get so flaily about damage being done to gorgeous ships like the Siren, though. At least Norton wasn't out to sink it, because gawd, in PotC when they blew the ships to pieces I was all ;___________;.
Heh. I was very amused when Tom spied Andrej's dive, and I liked to see how that all went down from Bill's perspective afterward. I also like that neither Tom nor Bill are really more ruthless than they need to be. Tom's jaded, but not as much as he seemed in the first chapter, and Bill makes for quite the interesting pirate. It makes sense that the Siren's crew are a tight-knit bunch and that Bill prioritizes keeping his crew's loyalty, etc.
Looking forward to the meeting, dammit! Because at present it's going to be... um... possibly hilarious.

Oh my. :O Going to be a very interesting night, this one is.
I feel so bad for Tom right now. ;_; This: Bitter despair gushed through him, eclipsing any potential triumph that capturing the pirate Soldiersbane might bring Tom. Traveling the tropical seas, seeing beautiful new locales, none of it had brought him joy after learning of his twin's death. He had set out too late to find his brother. I know it's not true, but he thinks it is and it's so terrible. ;_; *heartbreak* But I love to see how devoted Tom is to his twin even though he's never even met him... yet. Heh.
And Bill and the Siren are just so gorgeous. I'm adoring how confident and capable he is, and I can already tell Andrej is going to be a lot of fun. He seems very clever, and quite competent in his own right. READING MORE NOW~ ♥

Gaaahh, I read the prologue before (when I wasn't denying myself this privilege, lol) and it's even better the second time through. This has got such a PotC feel to it without being too much like the Pirates films at all. Love it, love it, and I am going to read the WHOLE THING now. ♥_♥

This ended so perfectly! And I'm glad we got to see Andrej again. Very smart giving him one piece of the treasure. This was the perfect thing to satisfy my twincest craving tonight. :)
Author's Response: Thank you so much, I'm really happy you thought so! Yeah, I enjoyed him too much not to have him drop by one last time. ;) He'll take good care of that shiny! Soooo happy to hear it hit the twincest sweet spot. Thank you for all your reviews, Jen, I really appreciate them! ♥

Awww yay! I think I was holding my breath half this chapter lol.
Author's Response: Hee! I'm really glad that it was suspenseful for you! Thank you so much. ♥
Date: 09/17/11 10:06 pm Title: The Brilliant Merman Leaves His Mark
I feel melancholy to see Andrej go--you wrote him so beautifully in this. But the parting felt right, and of course I want Tom to have Bill all for himself. :) I'm intrigued about when Bill will have need for the merman's scale...maybe to avoid the supernatural fate Tom is worried about? Very curious...
Author's Response: I felt about as melancholy as Bill! The scene turned out a bit more pensive than I'd originally intended for that, I think. Andrej and Bill both knew it was time to go, but that didn't make them any happier to have the time come. And of course you know if Andrej gives him something like that he's going to need it... ;D

:DDDD I love the interactions between the twins, how fond of each other they already are. And I like your Andrej-his acceptance of Bill's changed status seemed really natural. Can't wait for more!
Author's Response: Ooh, perfect! Yeah, I just...can't help writing my twins that way when they've been separated, it seems right to have them want to be as close as possible. ♥ I really enjoyed writing Andrej in this story and I'm so, so glad people liked him so much. Thank you!
Date: 09/17/11 09:02 pm Title: The Idyllic Interlude Provides Opportunities
This whole chapter was just so hot. The vision of Bill and Andrej at the pool and then Tom and Bill tussling in bed. *swoon* This is why I love you. :D
Author's Response: I'm so glad you think it's so hot! *____* Hehe, yes, lots of gorgeous boy-love. Thank youuuuu! ♥
Date: 09/17/11 08:37 pm Title: The Roguish Pirate Suffers Doubly Thwarted
This is such a fun plot! :) I'm glad Tom is safe for the present.
Author's Response: Ooh, I'm really glad you think so! Hehe, yes, Bill doesn't yet know what a treasure he's got on board. ;)

Aaaah!! I thought for sure Tom would make the assumption when he saw the locket that the "lady" was Soldiersbane and had killed Bill, not that he was actually Bill. I'm so glad Tom knows though! Hopefully he can get through to Bill the next time they meet. *bites nails*
Author's Response: He realized, looking at Bill, that he was looking at a make-upped mirror of himself! The similarities really are unmistakable. ;D Yes! Tom knows what to strive for now - he's got a new purpose in life!
Date: 09/16/11 03:16 pm Title: The Clever Trap Springs Shut
Eeep! I can't wait to see what Tom thinks of this version of Bill. :)
Author's Response: It's going to be exciting and tempestuous, I hope. ;D Thank you Remy!

Oooooh, Andrej as a merman! I wasn't expecting that, but I love it!
Author's Response: I'm really pleased it was unexpected! *_* Thank you. ♥

*-* Pirate-fiction. Bill and Tom. Bill as a fierce pirate. My goodness. I loved every word of this. Thank you and excuse me, I'll go wipe away the drool now...*-*
Author's Response: Yay for pirate fiction! I'm so happy you loved this story so much. Thank you for the lovely review! ^_^

And the end comes all too soon...
I loved that Andrej made a reappearance in the last chapter. He was a completely mysterious creature that left you uncertain but in the end I really liked him.
Bill - swashbuckling, a little bit bawdy, and that swagger!! What's not to love?
As always, I love your stories. Can't wait for the next adventure you give us, whatever it brings.

Quite a different kind of story :) I'm very impressed by all the nautical expressions and things :)
Bill and Tom's story was beautifully delivered. I loved how their destinies enfold differently for them, to finally meet up again. It was a stormy way for them to meet after all those years dreaming about each other but not really understanding what they saw.
I loved the spark between the twins when they met the first time. Even though they didn't know yet they sure knew sometime was happen :) Later, that spark continued to keep them attracted and I doubt that even if Tom never got around to tell Bill about their bond it would still have been enough for Bill to want Tom around.
Your general cast was very good and I liked how they all became so vividly described. It was lovely to travel on the journey wit all these characters and I look forward to your next project :) *hugs* Maria

i totally reviewed this too fast, it was late at night and...well, i didn't notice until the next day when i was thinking about what had happened that Tom had lost Bill again in the same manner as before, only the locket had changed hands and the emotions different on one side...Bill being bodily dragged backwards onto a boat and out of his reach, only this time he'd wanted to go. ahh, anyway, had to mention that, cuz once i figured it out it was really cool xD

You know, every time I read something of yours I start off hesitant, because I know how much I love your stories and I keep thinking, surely it can't be better than X.
I am always wrong.
I adored this so much. I think that all the characters had something to them that made me care so much about them. I loved Andrej and how his moral code is different from everyone else’s but still so understandable, and I think the mystery of the pieces will keep me up at nights pondering it. This is definitely one of my favourites from the challenge.
*loves on*

this happened completely unintentionally, but i had the short bit of music that always played in the background whenever jack sparrow showed up in potc play in my head during some keypoints of the finale battle, like when the twins jumped out of the pit or when tom returned from the dead to save bill... and it was so effing awesome! i have no words to express how much i enjoyed this story. it was perfect in every possible way!
