Wonderful chapter. I am really hoping Tomdoes end up dropping thiss whole scale thing. Or maybe, I dunno, do fish shed their scales? If they are worth as much as Tom seems to think they are it wouldn't take very many to make him rich. Shedded scales would still be off the live merman, so they might work. But I really hope he just drops it. Or plans it, then falls in love with Bill and can't go through with it anymore.

I like how you made the merfolk, moreso dangerous than anything, since that's how the myths started, after all.
Poor merpeople, being descaled while still alive D: The scant least they could do is make them unconscious. Or just not take the scales at all... but eh, that's the story.
