Okay, first off, just to be clear, I'm not calling you guys liars. But how old is your andy now? It's just, ten or more years ago, did they even have the technology to have full aterficial hearts? And (I have no knowledge of this) but do they tick?! That's pretty cool, but I always thought it was pacemakers you could hear? Finally, I just want some background info: was andy homeschooled to begin with? If he was moved up a year/very clever, he must have been, right?
Author's Response: Andy explained all this in his letter. he didnt have the full heart transplant until he was around 5 or 6 or something like that i dont remember now... it was only for a year until he had a proper heart transplant.. then when he was 16 it failed and he had to go back to the artificail one.. for 2 years. hes 21 now. and yes it ticks slighly not to loud but it does tick its funny i spend hours with my head on his chest. and yes he was home schooled.

I am really sorry if anything I said was upsetting to either of you. To Andy, I hope your transplant is still going alright. I had a kidney transplant myself when I was 5, it ended up failing when I was 17. I have been on dialysis ever since.
Thank you for taking this chapter to clarify things a bit. I get the feeling we are getting to the 'here and now' of the story very soon. I'm so glad Bill found a friend in Gustav. Hopefully he will in tme have a good relationship with Georg too.
I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. Keep up the lovely work!
Author's Response: no no n your review wasnt upsetting at all... i had a number of emails of people correcting me calling me a liar and sayinbg things like they wished andy was dead if he was like that.... stuff like that =] so dont worry it wasnt you that upset me :Drnrnand yerp we are nearing the here and now bit of the story cuase bill will be 16 in the story :D this will also be where the story changes from being fully true to only being partially true xDD

Author's Response: Hahah yes that review made me giggle uncontrolably for about... 4 days XDD theres a part in your brain called (something i dont remember xD) and it controles depression and stuff like that, and when that gets shut off... people become wreckless and loves pain and stuff...

I don't want to doubt the validity of this story having been true, but at the same time I also am very skeptical as I have done massive research on the subject of artificial hearts among many other implants. The youngest person to ever receive a permanent implantation was a 15 year old Italian boy. That was done last year, and I know it was spoken about in 2004 as being possible. There haven't been any information of newborns receiving artificial hearts yet. Transplants are one thing, but a fully functional false heart is another entirely.
Another thing was pointed out by Ladyx, the human body CAN become immune to different medications and depending on age and weight it can vary. The problem is, pain medications are more rapidly consumed by adult bodies and thus tolerance is born, in young children the legal doses are so minute that it would take nearly a decade for them to become immune to anything unless a allergy was present and only then would the child be given a different medication or have it forgone.
The fact is, that Jarvic hearts and others like them are to faulty to be trusted as many of the people who received them have either died or received transplants with living hearts.
Author's Response: Hi this is Andreas the person who had the transplant. Rachel didnt mention once that it was a full heart transplant, when i was young they had to replace the tubing around my heart.. th vein i beleive (i had an accident recently meaning i forget the whole story.. could of been the artery) and had that replaced when i was a baby. then when i was 16 i had to have the full heart transplant with the artificail heart which i had for two years before having my transplant. hope that sorts everything out for you. as for what happened in chapter two.. it was all true every word.. the doctor who did it then got arrested for giving false measures... as it was illegal to do what he did.
