First I must say that I'm not familiar with the possible serius this belongs to, so I read this as an individual oneshot. :)

Song fics are difficult, but i think you merged the song and the story nicely. I also liked how they were older and the complexity of relationships was present in this. For that, the song was a perfect match. In a way it was so sad. Sad in a good way. :)

vtw, fore some reason I really liked the following part:

Bill sighed an identical one to mine. “What do you want Tom?”
“Closure.”
There was a long pause and I could tell he wished that he hadn’t taken off those glasses.
