Author's Response: No. When he was born, he didn't get enough oxygen, therefore his brain suffered. So I wouldn't count brain damage as mental retardation. Plus I think retarded is a bit of a vulgar term...He's special. :)

Tom's so kind to put his brother before his own needs, without question kicking his lay of the night out.
You described Bill's curiosity very well, 6 y.o.'s typically ask lots of questions. You transferred it very well to Bill being physically 20 with the mental capability of a lot younger person.
Even though it's maybe a bit weird what they did, I found it heart-warming that Tom's there for his baby brother through everything, how embarrassing the situation may be.
