Oh man, this had me tearing up. I KNEW how the Little Mermaid ended and I was hoping so much that Bill would live, even though I already knew it was inevitable. This was an amazing fic, I love your writing style. And the ending was so bittersweet, I loved how Tom reacted at the end.
And the song you linked too is so haunting but a perfect accompliment to this.
OK, gonna go bawl in a corner now. :P

The Little Mermaid has remained my absolute favorite story since I was five, and it was for this reason. It wasn't a happy tale, it was filled with love and pain and selflessness...it's truly beautiful in it's bittersweetness. You did do much justice to the story, and I'm seriously tearing up right now! Just a lovely story, and the song is so beautiful!

Author's Response: Gah when I first heard this song it was just so haunting and the PV that I linked to is fantastic for the song. In all honesty I have Hans Christian Andersen lying around my house somewhere but never really read the original version of the little mermaid . So much darker
