Seems Tom knows a lot about repressing and inadvertedly revealed quite a bit of it during that last conversation with Bill. I can't wait to find out more. Fantastic chapter!

Author's Response: Mm-hmm, he sure did. Thank you!! :')

This is so great, izzap.

The way Bill slowly digs into the core of the matter with Tom is painful and very revealing. Obviously, Bill will come to the conclusion that Tom indeed has chosen to accept the fact that he will pretend to be happy with the girl he is to marry and suppress his real feelings.
One does also detect an interest in Bill from Tom's part. He is checking him out and I'm sure it must be torture to try and hide the nature of his interest from his family but also from Bill.
I look forward to what happens next :) *Maria

Author's Response: :) Thank you so much, Maria (whoa, that was weird, I just typed your name as the song I'm listening to sang "Maria" hahaa random, sorry). I'm so, so happy you think it's great. Means a lot to me. Thank you :)

I want to give you some love for this story. I think this is an awesome fic, and the whole plot line is so good. I love where it's going and your sublety in letting the reader see things into these characters is very good. Bill is being so open and honest about his leaving his home, he's opening up a bit and admitting that this lifetyle might have more to offer than it appears. Tom, on the other hand, is obviously harboring some feelings of his own - feelings he's not comfortable with and certainly never shared with anyone. The stage is being set for a very moving story between two people who could easily grow to care deeply about each other and two lifestyles that are complete opposites, but who's to say which one is best...all that really matters is that you are with the person you love. I totally loved the dialog in this chapter. xoxoxo

Author's Response: :))) was my initial reaction upon reading your review (along with a blush, but I don't believe I can easily illustrate a blush on a smiley face, otherwise I would). Thank you - very much. You're very sweet, and you phrase things so beautifully. :3 And I'm so thrilled you loved it, or, well, the dialogue, at least! :) Thanks, love.

...And this long chapter is also niiiice ^^

Tom is a bad liar.
Now it seems pretty obvious to me that he is gay and knows it, but tries to hide it. But not because he fears punishment from his own community, but because he himself believes it is wrong and bad and who knows what. That is probably even worse, I'm really sorry for him :(
I totally agree with the views Bill has on this subject!

Just like with his (and Tom's) opinion of the outside world concerning technological communication ;-)

As I said, I liked this chapter just as much as the other ones :)

I'm just afraid that Bill is being a little too aggressive concerning his views of the Amish world. He's not doing too bad since he's not condemning everything, but the others might be rejected. Not saying they have to ;-)
I guess that's just the former exchange student in me saying that xD

Looking forward to the next chapter :-)

Author's Response: Hehee, good, I'm glad. And yes, he is a bad liar. :( I feel sorry for him, too, poor guy :( Is Bill being too aggressive? If he is, I totally don't mean to make him come off that way. He's just... curious! xD Thank you for reading! I'm so happy you're liking it.

Tom is so in the closet. And he is so scared of this, that he choose to get back to the Amish life. I love this *_*

Author's Response: :3 I'm so happy you do. Thanks.

I didn't find it boring at all! I'm really enjoying this journey of Bill's and I'm very intrigued over how it will play out from now on, now that Tom met Bill. I'll be looking forward to more.

Nice update :)
The way Bill was interrogated at breakfast is a bit funny. I know how it feels to be in a completely different environment than your own and being like an "embassador" for your own country/culture/..., but this must still be something totally different!

I like the way you weave in all the little "information" about the Amish ;)
Although I can't really understand why Bill finds their home so comforting. When he described Tom's room, I only thought "Just like in a hotel" and I can't feel that comfortable in a hotel^^

And I don't find Tom so weird. He has been living in this community for 20 years and has been raised with its values and everything, I guess it's natural for him to judge Bill like that.
But Deborah probably had a reason why she made him of all the boys wait on the porch... ;)

Can't wait for the next chapter and to see, exactly how long Bill will want to stay ;)

Author's Response: Ohh, some homes just hold that comfortable, homey feeling. Have you ever toured a preserved house from, say, the late 1800s or some other time in history? Some of them, as bare and simple as they are, hold this homey feel that is incredibly difficult to describe. But perhaps that homey feel is subjective, who knows! ^_^ Anyways, thank you for reading and reviewing! More to come very, very soon :D

Good update with a ton of informative description once more. It' sintriguing to visit this world as much for us as it is for Bill. Bill hadn't conuted on stickign around for sure, butr it's fair that he 'pays' for their hospitality joining them in the field. I loved the fact he borrowed Tom's clothes :)
I'm not sure Tom reachign out to apologise was his own idea or if he's just cooled off and sees that Bill joingng in the field is a rather good sign.

Anyway, nice job.

ps. You really shouldn't start the chapter with such a negative author's note. It's off-putting to have my opinion established even before I read the chapter. Have more faith in your writing abilities because this is good :)

best regards *Maria

Author's Response: Thank you, thank you. I'm so happy you like it, and... *sigh* yes, I can see how that author's note could be off-putting. I wasn't trying to be super negative, though, but I'll avoid such in the future. Thanks again :')

Oh cool I'm also from western pa :) I won't jump on you for any misconceptions but ummm the girl who said Amish don't wear straw hats....Lancaster Amish do indeed wear straw hats :)

Author's Response: Ohh sweet! ^__^ I get super excited whenever I meet someone else from western pa. whereabouts, if you don't mind me asking? i'm from around pittsburgh; south hills. Ahhh, and thank you for confirming that straw hat bit, by the way. xD

I am very very excited for this story! its a tough topic, but i totally trust in your ability. keep up the great work, I can't wait for more. =)

Author's Response: Eee, I'm glad you're excited, 'cause I am, too! Yes. The toughness is the only thing I'm afraid of... I've only had a few days of research about the topic (the idea was so spur of the moment!), so, eek, I hope I don't make any huge blunders in describing their lifestyle! But thanks for trusting in my ability ;) And thank you for reading and reviewing! :)
