YAY for getting it up!!! I was starting to freak out.
This is one of the only stories I read on here that gets updated more than every once in a while..
And! It made me laugh out loud, that part with the Ale8's.
I canNOT wait until she meets the parents! And they tell them about the engagment!

In honour of both of our delays we can both relate that life is a huge pain crawling up our asses! Don't we love *nod nod* I started readin on Wednesday then got interrupted, got busy, work, family, crap and all. In between reading little wittle smudges of the whole thing. Till I finally got here on Sunday! To say that I was not in my eright mind to read this so I started again making sure I could read the whole PROPERLY! So I did and fast before ethe next one comes up cos u kno I always have something to say! ^_^ ok...*exhale* first of all I nearly dropped the whole just imaging Bill in an elegant sexy Black suit...hmm I love a man that can werk a suit! I had tears in my eyes with the marriage proposal, it was perfect nothing to fancy and just plain and simple, wrapped with feeling and both fear from both sides. Bill having to ask permission is so like him to have manners in letting the family kno, u could tell they just love him. I come from a family of tradition so asking the family is a factor that I can relate too, as well as having a family that would've really give a stuff, cos all they care about is if ur happy.......ok me has babbled enough. So please accept this big bear affectionate hug *arms wide open* of my sorry late review. =]

*sheepish* okay...i concede your point. in the context, there's nothing wrong with it. bill is not in anyway demeaning alley's choice, he's just being a sweetheart. and if alley doesn't mind, then it's okay. doesn't mean /i/ have to like it...but i guess that's just my opinion and i wouldn't want it happening to me.
and if it was going to work in any story, it would be this one. i guess it's more annoying in harry potter fanfics, where there's no reason to suppose the same traditions would apply...so i guess we can agree to disagree? *hugs*

yes, but it's a symbol of a time when women DIDN'T get a choice. it's nice that he respects her family, but don't you think alley should get to know first?

Author's Response: o.O No.. it's not. As with everything, even the traditional 'asking of the woman's family for permission to marry' has changed. It may have /used/ to be done without the woman's thoughts or opinions, because she used to be married out like cattle. Then again, men used to BUY women from their fathers WITH cattle, but that has changed too.
You also have to think that Alley lives in Kentucky. She was born and raised in the South, and in the story, Bill is from North (or South, I keep forgetting what the heck I put) Carolina, both states which are rather rich in tradition.
To /you/, it may seem like a symbol of a time when women didn't get a choice, but to /them/, it's not. And that's what matters.
Also, it could've very well been something that meant something to Ella, otherwise she wouldn't have written it.
And as for your question; if Alley's family had said yes, and Alley didn't want to marry Bill, she wouldn't have to.

wasn't sure about bill asking 'permission', though. that IS really old fashioned, and it's implying even if alley WANTS to marry him, she can't if they say no. it's one of my pet hates in fan fiction (and books in general, actually). still, i know it wasn't meant that way.
and mis, what am i going to do when trebuchet is FINISHED? it's the best het story in the UNIVERSE. :( maybe i will be forced to hurry up and finishe mine...
Author's Response: Nah, Bill asked as a sign of respect and acknowledgment to how much Alley's family means to her. If they'd said no, Bill would have married her anyway, without her family's permission. ^^
Aaaaand.. you can read the one shots that will be posted one at a time after the prologue. ^^ I'm thinking of doing one every two weeks.

I read the summary and thought "wow, that sounds familiar." lol Okay, so I loved the original Catapult, and I may just have to read this one to see what you've done with it. How closely have you stuck to the original? Eeee, I'm kind of excited. =D
Author's Response: I've stuck as CLOSE to the original as possible, lol. Catapult was perfect as is, so I didn't want to mess with it, really. "Trebuchet" is supposed to be more of a respectful toast to Catapult, allowing new readers from a new fandom to experience the tale between Alley and 'Taylor/Bill' with the lead boy from their band, be it Hanson or Tokio Hotel. It's all about the story, not necessarily the lead role in particular.
Basically, with Ella's approval, I changed locations, character descriptions and names to reflect the Tokio Hotel fandom instead of Hanson fandom. That's all I said I would do, and that's all I've done. I didn't want to taint the.. 'magic' that is Catapult. ^^ I hope it's up to par.
