Wow...! I think William outdid himself with this test. It's not as if Tom has too much on his plate already! lol. The poor kid is trying to master this inhuman level of diplomacy to please everybody. The general, the Elders, his team-mates, Bill and the most important one: William.
It's not a huge surprise how Tom fails every single one of them but William, who is mighty entertained by all of this. He's orchestrating it in the first place, so his screenplay has become perfect :D
But now... now it's become something entirely different and William's given himself more power by enforcing this sex act upon Tom but for the wrong reason in Tom's book. Tom wants to have that kind of sex but with a consenting Bill. But that is not going to happen any day soon. So yeah - it's going to be insanely interesting to see how Bill responds to the switch mid-sex this time :)
I loved your explanation for how the switch works for the demon versus Bill. They can't live without the other. It's fascinating.

Author's Response: Yep, exactly. Tom is torn in these kind of situations and William knows it. He's having a blast with it, but there's more to it, he only admits it later :D As always love your indepth reviews. Makes me ponder about my own work lol
