OMG Tom, what a goof! I actually picture Tom being a lot like this...cocky to the point of being hilarious, but still fumbling at inopportune times. I really like the interaction between Bill and Tom and this chapter really made my day!

Also, tire blowouts suck ass. Wrecks in the rain suck ass, and being far from home and at a time when tire/repair places are closed when it happens sucks even more ass. I have experienced both first-hand. Bill had it worse though- he was by himself. *pets the poor dear* I can't imagine what Tom was doing outside in the rain on a highway (interstate?) after dark though.
