Wooow, this is amazing. Your descriptions are... just... so, so incredibly good. Everything is so vivid, and so mysterious! I was gripping the arms of my chair throughout most of this fic. You are a goddess among writers!
And I can say I more than sympathize with your situation. My dad's been in the hospital for about a month and a half now after a bad motorcycle wreck. I send you and your mom the best of wishes and better. Write if it helps, by all means, but don't think of it as an obligation, because nothing is more important than being there for her right now.
